Returning back my roots today with a strong vinyasa class to awaken the soul! After spending the last 5 years deep in slower therapy training, teaching and practicing it felt good to return to a style where it all started for me. Humbling and loving 💚 Thankyou for having me. As I prepare for a huge change with my little family and a to-do list that require multiple spread sheets I'm lead back to my trusty ritual of morning coffee and journalling.
So why journal?
Journaling is my number #1 self-care tool. I try to journal daily but that usually turns into a few days a week. The benefits I have experienced from this practice is:
- We all need help and a lending ear in times of big change. A moment to hash things out and make sense of situations. I find journalling gives me that opportunity to be my own bestie.
- It provides PERSPECTIVE. When we release our inner thoughts to the privacy of a journal it feels like you’re explaining a situation with full honesty to someone else knowing you won’t get a judgemental response. Sometimes it takes an honest and heart felt out-pour to make sense of a confronting and confusing situation
- Increases gratitude. Once we have released our burden it is easier to come back to our centre, our gratitude heart.
- Releases daily stress. Provides an outlet to those inner nags to stay balanced and a feeling of control.
- Increases creativity as you can explore emotions deeper and fully.
- Demands self reflection that allows us to see our patterns, positive and negatives
- A conscious self check-in. As mums we spend so much time checking everyone else is okay, we need the same attention.
Try it…. Easy prompts to begin with:
- How do I feel emotionally today?
- How do I feel physically today?
- Are they related?
- What is something I could do in the next 7 days to support mySelf?
