This will be a funny one!
I bought these red yoga pants over 20 years ago. It was a purchase made from my very first wage as a fitness instructor! (obviously, I was a child prodigy ๐คฃ)
Apart from the fact that it still looks incredible, and hasn't lost its integrity or elasticity, these yoga pants have a special meaning for me.
It was just a couple of years before buying these pants that I ever sat foot in a fitness studio.
To say I was intimidated by it all was an understatement but I went back day after day. First, because I wanted to lose weight and look good, and later because I started to appreciate just how good it feels to move and be healthy. But more than anything else, I found my people. ๐
The owners of the studio TM Sport, a lovely couple who, cultivated a friendly, welcoming, family-like atmosphere were amazing. There was no room for egos, they actively encouraged friendly competition and gently managed out those with unhealthy attitudes.
I felt safe and relaxed in this place. And it was with the encouragement of this fabulous team I decided to get my instructor certification. The day after graduation, I started teaching two classes a week and it changed my life. I started to believe in myself and in the possibility that there are more options and opportunities for me than I ever thought.
The fact that they believed in me, made that unrelenting voice of self-doubt grow quieter and I dared to believe in myself a bit more every day, not just as a fitness instructor but as a person. It's been a long road and I am nowhere near finished with exploring new horizons but my gratitude remains for those who gave me that gentle nudge and let me believe that โI am good enoughโ. ๐โจ
So, thank you pants for the reminder ๐คฃ

I love a compound stretch almost as much as a compound move ๐
This is a yummy variation of a camel pose with the yoga wheel.
But, apart from the neck, middle and lower back, hamstrings and shins, this variation also gives a great stretch to the dorsal (top) part of the feet.
The extensor digitorum brevis which is responsible for extending toes 2-4. The other intrinsic muscle on the top side of your foot is the extensor hallucis brevis, which aids in extending the big toe. They all work together to aid balance in all standing poses but more importantly, eliminate crampsโ๏ธ

Inhale the present
Life is all about change. Thatโs a fact. Like it or not ๐
We, humans, are hardwired to resist and fear change. No denying it, change can be stressful, and if itโs an unplanned or unexpected one, truly scary at times.
But you can choose how you go through change!
Start small! Take a moment to check in with yourself. No matter how you feel, please know that is OK!
Then breath! Slow down your inhale and extend your exhale. Focus on the sensations in your chest and ribs. Let your face and jaw relax.
5 to 10 inhales and exhales.
If you feel comfortable, close your eyes too. It will help tune out your surroundings.
And relax. You got this.

Who needs a bit of motivation to get moving?
We all know that exercise is good for you. Good for your body, mind, soul and mental health.
But! Itโs not always easy to get started.
Hands up if you struggle with consistency! โ๏ธ
Good news is, you are not alone. Itโs a good start to find a friend, agree on a plan (or something similar) and keep each other commited and motivated until it becomes your second nature to move ๐ช๐๐
I know itโs hard to start! But thatโs the only hard part! I promise ๐

Shoulder stand or Sarvangasana is one the best asanas for the body, mind and soul.
Cooling, calming, quietens the nervous system.
Reduces fluid retention in the legs and feet.
Regulates and normalises elimination.
The thyroid and para-thyroid are nourished with blood.
Reduces fatigue and can help you to improve your sleep.
