Anxiety doesnβt always look obvious.
Sometimes itβs constantly overthinking small things.
Replaying conversations in your head.
Feeling tired even after resting.
A heavy chest for no reason.
Getting irritated easily.
Feeling mentally exhausted but unable to slow down.
A lot of us have nervous systems that are overstimulated all the time without even realizing it.
A few things that genuinely help calm anxiety and bring the body back to a safer, calmer state:
β’ Deep breathing exercises β slow breathing tells your body that you are safe. Even 5 slow breaths can help regulate your heart rate.
β’ Box breathing β inhale 4 seconds, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4. This helps during moments of panic, stress, or overthinking.
β’ 4-7-8 breathing β inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Especially helpful before sleep when the mind wonβt stop racing.
β’ Alternate nostril breathing β one of the most calming breathing techniques for mental overwhelm and emotional balance.
β’ Stop consuming information the second you wake up β give your brain quiet before social media, emails, or stress.
β’ Go outside more β sunlight, fresh air, and even short walks help regulate the nervous system more than people think.
β’ Stretch your body daily β anxiety gets stored physically too, especially in the shoulders, jaw, neck, and hips.
β’ Reduce constant stimulation β loud environments, too much screen time, and nonstop scrolling keep the brain in alert mode.
β’ Create small moments of calm during the day β music, tea, prayer, journaling, silence, deep breathing, or even sitting without your phone for 10 minutes.
β’ Sleep matters more than productivity β an exhausted nervous system struggles to feel emotionally safe.
β’ Stop expecting yourself to βhealβ overnight β consistency calms the body more than intensity does.
Sometimes healing starts with small things repeated daily β¨
Save this for the days when your mind feels heavy π€
