Frigate bird sighting! The crew have seen plenty of seabirds out there but this morning’s visitor was particularly special for them… a Frigate Bird. Frigate birds are the National bird of , the place Ruby and Steff call home as well as being their final destination on this epic 3,200nm journey. This sighting has confirmed just how close they are with the crew expected to pass the 500nm to go mark tomorrow 👏🏽
As they get closer, they would like to remind everyone why they have taken on this mammoth challenge… to raise awareness and support 2 amazing Antiguan charities - the (NSA) and the Caribbean Maritime Safety Association ( CMSA). Both are water focussed.
The NSA’s mission is to change the lives of children and differently-abled children and adults in Antigua by introducing them to sailing not just as a sport or leisure option but also as a career. Lessons are offered free as part of the National Curriculum. NSA also offer rentals, visit nationalsailingacademy.org to learn more.
The CMSA’s mission is to better maritime safety, security and increase water safety awareness island wide, delivering such programs as school water safety talks, free swimming lessons and search and rescue training to name a few. Visit www.sea-safety.org for more information. If you would like to support their mission please do so via this link https://gofund.me/b3069731 or in bio!

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY to all those ladies out there 💪🏾 today we celebrate our very own Ruby Coates as well as the other ladies within the , the all female crew . Our team has the pleasure of undertaking this incredible challenge of rowing 3,200nm across the Atlantic Ocean alongside these amazing ladies. Departing from , together we head for . Within the ocean rowing community, only 407 out of 2,197 individuals who have rowed (or attempted to row) an ocean are women-that’s just 18.5%, and only 28 teams of four women have successfully crossed the Atlantic compared to 110 teams of four men. Figures taken from Atlantic Dash originally from oceanrowing.com. Today we also celebrate and who Ruby and many others are proud Seasters and members, encouraging and celebrating women in the maritime industry 💜 # #2025 (despite possible confusion, steff is a man)

The team have seen a lot of marine life but here is something a little more rare… the lesser spotted ginger. Here’s cleaning the bottom of the boat. Over the course of the journey, a fair amount of growth has built up on the hull under the water which causes a little drag and in turn makes the boat a little slower when moving through the water. Cleaning the boat allows the team to get back home to that little bit quicker! Cleaning the boat in water over 3 miles is an incredible experience, one not to be missed on this journey 🌊 🐠 #2025

How do we stay fuelled onboard? The bulk of our calories come from who have supplied us with a large range of tasty meals to power us through each day and night of rowing. We are required to eat around 6000 calories per day to replenish our energy after all those oar strokes! These meals are rehydrated using our which is stabilised in the big waves by the trusty contraption inspired by the . We are also grateful to who donated us lots of their puddings and hot chocolate as well as who gave us lots of biscuits to go with our hot drinks ! #2025

We’ve had lots of people ask how we stay shaded from the sun on this journey. The answer is complete cover up with . Their UV trousers and hooded tops keep us cool and covered in these exposed environments. We also wear face covers (minus here where it’s coffee time). Let’s just say if we didn’t have these essential items, we’d return very very rouge! Let’s not also forget under these items we have a large supply of .life boxers keeping us comfy 🌊 🚣 #2025 .life .pools.wellness &p

One of the toughest days on the row turned into the most unforgettable. 🐬✨ Hundreds—maybe even thousands—of dolphins surrounded us, leaping through the waves and playing so close to the boat. For two hours, they just kept coming 🌊💙

What an incredible encounter. The other evening, the one and only popped up on our chart plotter and as we continued to row about our daily business, Ruby spotted something on the horizon. On a closer look, it was the girls themselves. After rowing 300+ nautical miles in separate vessels, we had crossed paths. There were reports the girls were having power issues and so we diverted course to check on the ladies and for a quick mid ocean chat. They were in extremely high spirits despite some sickness, hand steering and hand pumping water all ontop of rowing the ocean. These gals are really showing us all the
