ABFA National Referee Pre-Season Course Gets Underway

The Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) commenced its National Referee Pre-Season Course on Thursday, September 3, 2026, as part of its preparations for the upcoming football season.

The course is organized by the ABFA Referee Department and is being conducted under the tutorship of MA Technical Instructors Darez Dundas and Ishan Philip, both of whom are Concacaf Technical Instructors and Assessors.

The course was officially declared open by ABFA General Secretary Zorol Bartley, who encouraged the match officials to continue giving their best at all times. He emphasized the important role referees play in the game, noting that football cannot be played without their commitment and contribution. He also reaffirmed the Executive Committee’s continued support for referee development under the leadership of ABFA President Icford Roberts.

Mr. Bartley also took the opportunity to congratulate the match officials who received appointments during the summer, as well as those selected for upcoming Concacaf Nations League assignments.

The four-day course will provide match officials with important technical and practical preparation ahead of the new season and is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

Yesterday, our 33 selected U15 boys took part in their first training session as preparations officially got underway for the FIFA World Cup & Festival 8v8 in Azerbaijan🇦🇿⚽️.

The boys came out with energy, determination, and a strong desire to impress, each giving their best as they compete for a place in the final squad that will represent Antigua & Barbuda on the international stage.

The journey has begun. 💪🏽🔥

The ABFA Head of Refereeing is off to Poland, where she will serve as a FIFA Referee Fitness Instructor at the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup, September 5–27, 2026.

And Kelesha isn’t slowing down. She headed to Poland straight from the CFU U14 Challenge Series, where she was wearing yet another hat, supporting the competition as an administrator and instructor for the CFU’s referee development program.

A member of both the Concacaf and CFU Referee Committees, Kelesha continues to invest in the development of refereeing across our region while bringing her expertise to the global stage.

We’re proud of you, Kelesha. Go well and make us proud!
