Turning to the Dark Side "Turning to the dark side" is an idiom derived from the pop culture success of Star Wars, referring to someone starting to act in a way that is harmful, destructive, or evil, as exemplified by Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader.

I was always the kind of guy who needed things to make sense, and they didn't.
