Tunisia vs Tanzania was more than just a poorly played game, it was an insult to the intelligence of anyone who loves African football.
Anyone who watched the match clearly saw that something was wrong. The lack of intensity, the total absence of offensive initiative, the behavior of the teams… Everything indicated that there was a prior agreement. That wasn't a game. It was a poorly rehearsed performance.
This is not a conspiracy theory. Just look at the posture of the two teams on the field. When Tunisia had the ball, they didn't press, they didn't accelerate, they just retreated. Tanzania, even with the draw, also seemed comfortable maintaining a dead rhythm. And Tanzania's goal? Clearly rehearsed to justify the score. Where have you ever seen a superior and favored team play as if they were securing a draw?
The most revolting thing is that, while we ask Europe to respect the AFCON, for European clubs to release players, for the international media to give it due attention, we ourselves allow this kind of farce. How can we demand external respect if internally we are the first to disrespect our own competition?
If CAF doesn't act firmly, all this will become routine. The integrity of the competition is at stake, and the public has to speak out, even the Tunisian public spoke out, they booed their own team. It's not just a result that's at stake, it's the credibility of African football.
My position is clear: this cannot go unpunished. Anyone who watched the game knows I'm right. And it's time for all of us to demand seriousness.
