The collector's selection 5 - "La cumparsita" by Astor Piazzolla (1951).
Piazzolla recorded this tango masterpiece at various points in his career. This historical record was the first known (there is a previous one from 1946 that was never marketed). The orchestra was made up of, among others, Leopoldo Federico, Hugo Baralis and Carlos Figari. This historical recording belongs to the period of stylistic transition towards the so-called "new tango" of the Octeto Buenos Aires.

The collector's selection 4 - "Recuerdo" by Orquesta Típica Víctor (1930).
One of the mythical orchestra in the history of tango, made up of the most resonant names of the first half of the 20th century, which left several hundred registers and nevertheless never played in public.

The Collector's choice 11 - "Prepárense" by Aníbal Troilo (1951). Astor Piazzolla composed this tango at the beginning of the 50s, and its title ("Prepare yourself") seems to warn us about the revolution that he is about to carry out.

The collector's memory - Paquita Bernardo (1900-1925)
120 years ago Francisca "Paquita" Bernardo was born. She was the first professional female bandoneon player.
In her brief but brilliant professional career she formed an orchestra which included, among others, the young Osvaldo Pugliese on piano and Elvino Vardaro on violin.
Among her compositions we can highlight "Floreal" (recorded by Juan Carlos Cobian), "La enmascarada" and "Soñando" (both recorded by Carlos Gardel).
Defying all the social norms, she made a place for herself in the tango by that time. "The flower of Villa Crespo" died at 24 but left an indelible mark in our memory.

The collector's selection 3 - "Sólo se quiere una vez" by Carlos Gardel (1930)
This beautiful and melancholic tango has a literary peculiarity. In the course of his singing we can hear Carlos Gardel recite the beginning of a very famous poem by Rubén Darío.
