Mendoza United FC in Argentina is celebrating its first 10-years in operation. We started in 2015 as Marbella United FC in Spain. We left Spain due to COVID-19. During the height of the pandemic, our program spent 13 months in Belgrade, Serbia, and Cali, Colombia (the only two football countries that allowed American access to tourist visas while most of the world was shut down.
The program moved operations to Mendoza, Argentina, when it reopened its borders after the pandemic. Argentina is the best pathway for Americans to Europe and college soccer because North Americans can register and play in professional club academies under the age of eighteen, whereas we cannot in Europe until 18-years-old or older. In recent seasons, Mendoza United has advanced 26 Americans to pro academies, 6 to pro teams in Argentina, and another 6 student-athletes to college soccer.
Over the next 10 days, we'll send a recap of each season.
