For many running crews, the journey starts long before Gastein: training together, inspiring each other, travelling as a team and finally sharing the trails on race day. And every year, we see more and more communities joining us. 🌍🏔️

Fun fact: When adidas INFINITE TRAILS first came to the valley in 2018, only five local runners were on the start line. Eight years later, Gastein has a thriving trail running community of its own—and this year, they made it all the way to the top. 🏆

Everyone takes something unique home from the Gastein Valley—an unforgettable summit moment, new friendships, or maybe… a namesake! 🐮🐮❤️

When Katharina Wagner of (adidas) runners hamburg signed up for her very first trail run—our 30K INDIVIDUAL—she set out with her friend Amy Riemann with a simple goal: no target time, just cross the finish line and be proud.

But trail running is full of unexpected magic.

Stopping at the second aid station, the Feldinghütte, to use the restroom, the hut owners greeted them with pure local hospitality and asked: „Do you want to see something special?“

They led them to a trailer, lifted the tarp, and there they were: twin calves, born just an hour earlier! 🥺✨

As Katharina asked if the calves had names, the hut owner turned the question around and asked for theirs first. Pointing to their race bibs, they introduced themselves as Katharina and Amelie.

Without missing a beat, the owner smiled and declared: „Then these two are named Kathi and Amy.“

As they got ready to head back out onto the trails, he added: „Looks like you’ll have to run again next year to visit them—you’re connected now!“

This is what adidas INFINITE TRAILS is all about. It’s not about personal bests—it’s about the incredible volunteers, the local community, and the stories that bind us to these mountains forever. 🏔️✨

Nobody had them on their radar—and that’s what makes this sport so special. ⛰️✨

Meet TEAM Hofladen Hoislbauer - TR-Gastein: Thomas Schneider, Christoph Dankl, and Jakob Gruber. Friends since kindergarten, local trail runners, and hard workers on their home farms—they entered infinitetrailsrace purely for the joy of running together and taking on Gastein’s ‘Kogels’ as a team.

Proudly sponsored by Christoph’s parents and named after their family farm’s organic shop Johann Dankl these boys prove that genuine passion and good local fuel can power big achievements! 🪵🍞🧀

Balancing training between farm work, daily chores, and life, they never expected to walk away with a title. But with a strong performance—finishing 7th in the Men’s category and 8th overall—these three childhood friends proved to be the best local team on race day, taking home the coveted Local Hero Trophy! 🏆

This unique hardware—a massive, three-piece wooden disc representing Loops S, M, and L—is awarded to the top local team from the Gastein Valley.

“Until the award ceremony, we had no idea we’d win anything. It was an indescribable feeling—and sharing that moment with childhood friends makes it truly special.”

Their names are now permanently carved into Gastein trail history. As for 2027? They’re ready to bring the grit, team spirit, and local pride back to defend their title against a stacked local field.

✨ INFINITE TRAILS through the lens of our photographers ✨

As one of the world’s most renowned trail running photographers, 📸 Ian Corless has been an essential part of adidas INFINITE TRAILS since 2019—shooting action on all our legendary „Kogels“ over the years. 🏔️

This year, Ian spent Friday night up at the Gamskarkogelhütte alongside our course marshals and mountain rescue crews to document the 60K, Loop S, and Loop M runners from Europe’s highest grass mountain: the Gamskarkogel (2,467 m). Nature’s unpredictable weather call brought out images that differ dramatically from previous years. 🌧️

Known globally for traveling to the world’s most breathtaking places to document ultra-athletes at their limit, Ian’s mastery in showcasing raw determination against epic mountain backdrops shines through once again in his best-of selection.

For the past four years, 📸 Matthias Wendling has been the one capturing all the raw emotion at the start & finish line and on the podium. 🤩

After a 3-year world trip, he temporarily made Norway his home—drawn by mountains and adventure. While he sometimes dreams of running the infinitetrailsrace himself, he loves holding the camera and catching your most honest, spontaneous, and unfiltered moments even more.

Authenticity is what makes his photos so special—which is why we’ll keep doing everything we can to convince him to stay behind the lens instead of stepping onto the start line. 😉

✨INFINITE TRAILS through the goggles of our FPV pilot✨

The breathtaking FPV shots in our Highlight Clip were captured by Filip Tumakov — an FPV pilot who calls Gastein home.

Since we can’t get enough of his work, he’s put together this Best Of Clip for us.

When we asked him how he acquired his skill, he said „I first saw a drone 15 years ago, but I never imagined one day I’d be able to mount a camera on it and create films from the sky. Four years ago, I started flying myself - and it changed everything.

For me, flying is about freedom and creativity. No matter how the day begins, once I put on the goggles and take off, the world shifts. What starts as a simple flight slowly builds into something meaningful.

Drone flying is more than just a skill - it’s a way to bring a vision to life in a way nothing else can.“

Welcome to the team, ANNE KAISER Echtheitsfotografie! 📸 While Anne is a highly experienced outdoor and sports photographer, this was her very first time bringing her lens to adidas INFINITE TRAILS.

For her debut, she was stationed high on the mountain covering the 60K, 45K, and Loop L runners on the Tischkogel climb and Stubnerkogel ridge—though little did she know her first assignment would leave her out in heavy rain and fog for hours! 🌧️🌫️

With a deep personal passion for mountain sports, Anne has a natural instinct for anticipating the moments that matter. Her skill in documenting real, unfiltered emotion—from sheer grit to pure joy—brings a vibrant new energy to her best-of gallery.

Back for her 2nd year on the team, 📸 Melanie Többe returned to capture the runners on our popular 30K course at adidas INFINITE TRAILS—showcasing the raw beauty of the route and that spectacular climb across the Mauskarkopf 🏔️ (2,373 m).

Her journey into photography began during a semester abroad in Australia, where a course sparked a love for the craft that has taken her camera around the world. After shooting those unforgettable, snowy images on Gamskarkogel last year, Melanie’s knack for framing epic landscapes shines through once again—perfectly capturing the atmospheric mood of this year’s race with heavy rainfall and dense fog on the summits.
