On a fire scene the actual fire, toxic smoke, and the risk of a collapse are far from the only dangers. In fact, cancer caused 70% of the line-of-duty deaths for career firefighters in 2016.

In 1998 we introduced the integrated rescue hose, which made it possible for fire fighters to save each other in emergency situations, in the US this system is referred to as “Buddy Breathing”. The solution with one male and one female connection made it possible to easily connect to each other without interruption of air supply and has since become industry standard on several markets.

Firefighters from Markham Fire and Emergency Services responded to a commercial structure fire in the area of Steelcase Rd E and Esna Park Dr in Markham, Canada. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke conditions and quickly upgraded the incident to a working fire. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the fire under control and achieve a rapid knockdown. There were no reported injuries.

The house, built with sheet metal and wood, quickly caught fire and the risk of the fire spreading to neighbouring buildings was high. Through the effort of the firefighters they managed to control the fire and extinguish it, preventing it from spreading.
