Wir sind auf der Grazer Herbstmesse & GameFusion! ⚔️

Besucht uns vom 1. bis 4. Oktober an unserem Stand und lernt Schwertkunst Graz kennen. Bei uns könnt ihr Ausrüstung der japanischen Schwertkunst ansehen, Fragen zu unseren Trainings stellen und erfahren, wie ein kostenloses Probetraining in Graz oder Premstätten abläuft.

Premstätten Mini Seminar 2026 ⚔️
This time we worked on Deai, the first technique from the Kumitachi Nanahon set. In partner training, we work on precision, correct distance, timing and trust in the training partner. These exercises show how much more there is to learn when a technique is not only practiced alone, but also understood in relation to another person.
Thank you to everyone for the strong training and great energy.
If you would also like to train with us, discover Japanese swordsmanship and develop your skills step by step, you are welcome to join our groups in Graz, Premstätten, Maribor or Koper. Your first training session is free, but capacity in the groups is limited, so get in touch early.

Deai means “first meeting.” In this post you see the complete paired kata first, followed by the two individual roles: Uchidachi, who creates the correct attack, distance and timing, and Shidachi, who must read the line, respond calmly and finish with control.

This is Kumitachi Nanahon—traditional paired Japanese sword training. It teaches far more than swinging a sword: distance, timing, posture, awareness, responsibility and respect for the training partner.

Deai is the first form of Kumitachi

Nanahon, a paired Japanese sword exercise: it teaches both practitioners to control distance, timing and the line of the blade—not to hit harder, but to move safely and precisely together.
