The Parade of Nations is the ultimate expression of what the Roller Derby World Cup represents. It is a powerful celebration of the sport’s global reach and the tight knit community that fuels it. There is no moment when the spirit of roller derby is felt more deeply than when you are part of the RDWC.

Every person in this photo shares the same purpose: to represent their country, not just on the track, but in every stride, every chant, every moment. We do this for the grassroots, self built sport we love. For four unforgettable days, we are united by a single goal. Those people you have admired from afar, once names on a roster or faces on a screen, now pass you in the hallway, warm up beside you, and share the same nerves, the same hope. They are no longer distant icons. They are right here, living the same dream you are.

And what a humbling dream it is. To wear your country’s colors, thousands of kilometers from home, as one of only 25 people chosen to represent Portugal. This is not a gift. It is a responsibility carried with pride. Each person brings with them the voices of their friends, the support of their families, and the strength and work of their home league. To be here is a privilege that was earned through relentless effort, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in the years that lead up to each World Cup.

Each of these 25 is here for a reason. Each has a role, a function, a purpose. Whether it is a specific skill, a mindset, or a unique characteristic, every individual brings something essential to the team. No one is here by chance. Every person is a vital part of the whole, and together we form the engine that drives Team Portugal forward.
Skaters must step outside what they know, adapt to new systems, new teammates, and different ways of playing. In a short period of time, we are asked to build something new, together, . Something that belongs to no single person but to all of us. That challenge makes the journey even more meaningful. It is what transforms a group of individuals into a national team.

The journey asks everything from us, but gives even more in return.

Now the new cycle begins. The dream starts NOW.

This was Team Portugal’s 3rd World Cup, and the post-derby blues still hit hard. It wasn’t an easy feat bringing everyone together to Innsbruck. The struggle was real, but we still persevered and managed to bring the most dedicated group - even with skaters spread in several continents of the world, including America and all the way in Australia. We left Innsbruck proud of what we’ve achieved, a clear reflection of the “desenrasca” people we Portuguese are!

Every edition is a spectacular celebration of the roller derby community and this RDWC, the biggest ever, was a momentous and epic event. We came, we fought, and now we rest: but we leave inspired and ready to keep pushing for Portugal on the world stage.
But for now, it’s time for the THANK YOUS.

To everyone who donated to our GOFUNDME, bought merch, entered our raffles, or supported us in any way: you got us to Innsbruck. Competing abroad is no small feat, and representing Portugal on this stage wouldn’t have been possible without your love. We are truly humbled and hope we repaid you with heart, fire, and every stride on the track.

These joyful faces reflect the incredible past few days we spent at the . These event brought skaters from several different teams around the world together and we all played three tough and exciting games. We are leaving stronger and better than ever ❤️
