The Kickers of the Coconut comeback before GTA6. ⭕️

On Saturday, it was finally that time again! The Coconut Kickers are back in football Olympus! With drums and trumpets, we kicked off our first tournament of 2026 in what felt like 55 degrees. It was a tournament with 3 groups and a total of 14 teams. We were in a group of 5, with the top 3 advancing.

After an initially bitter defeat (2–4) against “Hofmoringa” — whatever that means — we followed it up with a clear 3–0 win against “Why Is There Straw Lying Around Here U23.” This was followed by an extremely nerve-racking 0–0 draw against the Gaudikicker, who were clearly not just there for laughs.

In the final group match against “Everything Is Bast,” we secured 3rd place with a 1–0 win and did it just like Algeria. We advanced from 3rd place into the knockout stage and reached the quarter-finals. That, however, is where we suffered a pretty heavy defeat.

After that, there were still two placement matches, both of which we also lost — one of them in a penalty shootout, almost as dramatic as Germany against Paraguay, and the other one we politely lost in regular time.

So, in the end, it was a whole bunch of lost matches, which ultimately earned us 8th place out of 14.
