Austria's first Roller Derby Team wants you as a skater, referee, non-skating official, helping hand and FAN! Get in touch with us today and stay tuned...

Roller derby is a contact sport played on quadskates by two opposing teams, of five women each, on a (in our case) flat track. A great introduction is provided by the Hammer City Roller Girls in “The Basics of Flat Track Roller Derby” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2W2b1WBmm4). If you’re interested in the specifics of the sport, head over to the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association and read up on the rules (http://wftda.com/rules) which the Berlin Bear City Roller Derby league also provides in German (http://bearcityrollerderby.com/regeln). Want to know more? Don’t hesitate to contact us here or via email. (http://www.viennarollerderby.org/contact/)

We have practice three times a week in Vienna and offer regular recruiting days for everyone who wants to get to know the sport. One more thing that makes us especially unique and proud - our very own FEARLEADERS! see for yourselves... https://www.facebook.com/FearleadersVienna

✨ VRD is kicking off the season with Lily Gaskell ! ✨

We’re super excited to welcome an absolute juggernaut of international Roller Derby to our Boostcamp!
Lily is an incredibly versatile skater, and she’ll be spending the weekend with us to share some of her knowledge, skills and derby magic.

Together, we’ll be working on becoming a stronger and more versatile league, on and off track.
Building our skills, challenging our muscles, growing together as a team and giving that team spirit some extra derby love.

We can’t wait for an intense, sweaty, inspiring and ridiculously fun weekend together!

YEAH…
WTF is too loud?
WTF is obedience?
WTF is too emotional?

Maybe the better question is:
WTF is roller derby without all of it?

Loud. Unapologetic. Emotional. Defiant.
Exactly as it should be!

Just casually juggling derby, life & my last two brain cells…
Blocker brain: hips square, eyes there, wtf the jammi is everywhere…do I have my mouthguard in?! Yes…that’s good…
I really need to p*e…I hope, I don’t p*e myself on track…hmmm…how many minutes do we have left…ok…I should focus on the strategy…where is my….oh…yes, in my mouth…ok, let’s goooooo

Kinda chic, spending your free time skating in circles, hitting your friends, getting hit by your friends and somehow leaving with even more joy and energy than you came to practice with 💙🧡 Sometimes chaotic, always really cool! Would recommend

Rolling Whistle – a sound project on body perceptions, gender identity & community in Roller Derby

Roller Derby is full of sounds. You hear the rolling whistle at the beginning of every bout. You hear it for coming together and checking in with one another. You hear the 4x-whistle after every jam. You hear the wheels on the floor, braking, screeching. You hear voices, screams, laughter and words of affirmation.

Rolling Whistle is an electro-acoustic transformation of sounds, something between a concert and a live-set, performing an homage to roller derby.

Karo Spöring aka Adrenalino 029 started playing Roller Derby in the Newbie Class in November 2025. For them, it offered a space for creating community, for the process of navigating their gender identity, for getting stronger and feeling more confident in their own body.

With personal insights and thoughts from Vienna Roller Derby players Chuckernaut, Cobra Chicken, Hermess, Riot Siren, the Cat’s Pyjamas and Zores Panther.
