As part of the Deep Listening series, we're dedicating an evening to the music, stories, and legacy of Rubén Blades.
This Deep Listening Session is part musical journey, part storytelling circle. Alongside selections from across Rubén's remarkable catalogue, I'll be sharing personal reflections on growing up with his music and the impact it has had on me over the years. As a fellow Panamanian, this is also an opportunity to bring a small piece of Panamá into the room, its flavour, history, humour, and unmistakable rhythm.
We'll spend time with Buscando América, an album whose message reaches beyond borders and invites us to reflect on the ties that connect us across Latin America. Its themes of identity, community, and solidarity continue to resonate decades after its release.
No dance floor. No distractions. Just a room, a sound system, and the chance to experience this music with intention and depth.
