For those watching the Paralympics and wondering how hard Nordic sit-skiing is; here’s an example of a beginner on a light incline. I was no quicker myself… many thanks to my mate “Alaska” 😎

Matthew Brumby PLY. The grin as he came past the grandstand said it all. Also great to see his shooting back on track, with an 80% performance; joint 16th on the event 😎🇦🇺
Congratulations, legend.
Another legend who not only helped Matty Brumby PLY to fulfil his dream, but also gave tremendous help to Curtis in setting up VESPA.
An international class biathlete herself, Elizabeth Burgess of the also pushed Matty up the bigger hills of Colorado when Curtis got tired and pretended to lose his glove.
Very many thanks, Liz. You are a legend and a machine.
On the morning of Brumby’s Paralympic debut, here’s a massive shoutout to the British Parabiathlon team coach, Si Allanson, and now retired Paralympian Steve Arnold, who you can hear commentating on the Brit TV transmissions this week.
Matt brought them out to Australia for cross-pol and coaching, after meeting them at the earlier in 2023.
This video also amply demonstrates the advantage sit-skiers with abdominals have over LW10s like Matt, and why he gets 14%of his final time back.
Just read an excellent piece from on the importance of equipment. I’m sure everyone knows how big a fan I am of Matty Brumby and I’ll give another example why here:
When Dave Miln came across into ParaNordic, it was always clear that he was going to be a strong Biathlete. It was clear very quickly, in fact, that with places at Milano/Cortina looking tight he would be a direct threat to Matt’s own qualification.
In the able-bods version of the sport, I’ve seen team-mates do psyops on their counterparts in order to sabotage efforts of others, to supposedly help themselves progress but what did Matt Brumby do, when faced with this threat to his own dream?
He loaned Dave his spare sitski and helped coach him on the snow.
Classic Matty!
How absolutely wonderful to now be on the eve of them facing off as team-mates on the greatest stage in the world!
