Before attacking, the puck must completely cross the blue line before any offensive player enters the offensive zone.

Simple rule:

🏒 Puck first.
👥 Players second.

This keeps the game fair and exciting.

You don't need to have played ice hockey before. If you're living with a physical disability and are keen to challenge yourself, learn new skills, make lifelong friends, and be part of an incredible team, we'd love to meet you.

I've been lucky enough to travel the world through Para Ice Hockey, captain the Australian Women's Para Flyers, and meet some of the most inspiring athletes along the way. It all started by saying yes to trying something new.

⏱️ How Long is a Game?

A para ice hockey game consists of:

• Three 15-minute periods
• Breaks between each period

That means plenty of fast-paced action from start to finish!

🏒 Para Ice Hockey 101 - How Many Players?

🏒 Each team has:

🥅 1 Goalie
🏒 2 Defence
🏒 3 Forwards

Just like traditional ice hockey, teams work together to score goals while defending their own net.

Every player has an important role!

Para Ice Hockey is one of the fastest and most exciting adaptive sports in the world!

Players sit on specially designed sleds and use two sticks—not only to shoot and pass the puck, but also to propel themselves across the ice.

It’s fast.
It’s physical.
It’s inclusive.
Able bodied or anyone with a physical impairment affecting their lower body can give it a go.

What’s the Community Lottery?

Originally known as the People's Choice Community Lottery, the People First Community Lottery gives local sporting clubs, schools, charities, volunteer groups and other not-for-profit community groups around Australia the opportunity to raise funds and achieve fundraising goals. The Community Lottery has helped to raise more than $22 million for community groups since its inception in 1984.
