Congratulations to Unley for taking home the premiership. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get the job done with the bat and the class of the Gunners was too much in the field. A season to be proud of for the LO4s and a special congrats to Askar who took home the Batting and Bowling award for the grade!

LO4 GRAND FINAL BOUND
It was shaky start for the LO4s losing both openers early, but the in-form Askar anchored the innings again, top scoring with 47. Junior Mirza was able to accelerate things when he came to the crease launching 2 leg side sixes. Extremely valuable late runs were added by Ziggy (21*) and Babar (19) to reach a defendable total of 161. The chase started well for OC with pace-men Strelan and Rehman getting a wicket each before Hectorville dug in and made some inroads to the total as their number 4 batter made 50. With the game in the balance, MOTM Syed was able to destroy the middle order with figures of 5/12 leading the side into the final as the 38 run win was secured.

LO4 will face Unley at Unley High School in the grand final this weekend!

LO5 had a great start with the ball, wickets had Flinders Uni reeling at 5/46 with 2 wickets to Subodh and Neeraj each. Although the innings was stabilised here from Uni with their captain helping rearguard to 6/130 as no further damage with the ball was done. The top order collapsed and never recovered with batsmen struggling to make starts. Resistance was offered by Vivek (27*) but the total was unable to be chased as side was bowled all out for 96.

HOME FINAL SECURED X2, JONO FINISHES WITH A BANG

LO4 and LO5 have both secured home finals this Saturday. Get along to catch the action at Concordia and Schmidt Oval from 1230.

B2s season ended with a dead rubber one-dayer against neighbours Glenunga. The home side made better use of the conditions to post 222. Spencer and Paasuke were able to peg back the momentum with the ball but some late aggressive batting, and fielding errors left us with a big chase. Jono anchored the innings and gave us hope, making good use of the short straight boundaries, launching a six into Webb Oval! and another to bring up his 💯 over straight mid off. 30s from Kupke and Pederson helped progress the total but we were left 16 short of the target.

LO4s needing a win to have a chance of a home final were able to use home conditions to post a strong total first. Syed making 77 helping him to claim the grade batting award and also putting the side in a strong position. Solid contributions from the rest of the order gave us 195 to defend. Wickets were shared for us in the chase, as we were able to bowl out the 🦁 for 113. Luckily with other results going our way we secure a home-final against Hectorville at Concordia this Saturday.

LO5 had already secured a home final, but this win secured them the minor premiership! Suyog was able to return to form from the top with 51, and contributions from Harsh and Vivek gave us 154 in the bank. Early inroads with the ball from Nandu and Subodh had the hosts at 5/7! Tight bowling from the cartel including 3/4 from Harsh had them all out for 66. LO5 will take on Flinders Uni at Schmidt Oval this Saturday!

HOME FINAL BECKONS FOR LO5
The B2s posted consecutive victories for the first time this season, overcoming Port Districts by 40 runs at Concordia. Batting first, Corkindale and Pederson produced some early resistance, setting a platform for the innings with a 74 run partnership. The skipper, in similar fashion to last game, held the innings together with 84, as the young side posted 177 in their 40 overs.

Some wayward bowling early gave the Magpies initial hope, being 2/74 at drinks, but good catching combined with tight bowling from Ali and Oliver suffocated the batsmen. The win guarantees the B2s are safe from the relegation zone after a testing season, with one game to go.

The LO5s have all but secured the minor premiership, beating Rostrevor by 7 wickets, with a dominant team performance. Subodh thwarted some early resistance, producing 4 clean bowleds and one LBW to totally bamboozle the top order, while behind the stumps Kanhere took 3 catches.

In reply, Neeraj and Prasanth saw the new ball off with a 50 run stand, before the latter went on with it to anchor the innings, falling agonisingly short of a half century but sealing the win for the side.

It was a grim afternoon for the LO6s, only Casey was able to pass double figures before the side was all out for 41. It led to a short afternoon as Kilburn had the run chase wrapped up quickly.

Having set the platform last week for a big win, the B2s quickly lost 5/19 to put a scare through the Highgate crowd before steadying to put a big dent in Ingle Farms’ finals aspirations. Pederson continued where he’d left off last week, holding the innings together to post his tenth century for Old Concordians, while the tail wagged against a frustrated bowling line up.

In a game which occasionally got spirited, our youngest ever side showed that actions speak louder than words, almost pulling off an outright victory, with Hassan again ripping through the brittle batting line up to add to his 5 wicket haul in the first innings. The Farmers were sent back listless to their own side of Grand Junction Rd, while “We’re a Happy Team at Concordia” was sung with gusto in the winners’ changerooms.

The LO4s have booked their ticket to the finals, following a comfortable win against Uni. Batting first, Shayan and Jake posted a 50 run partnership at the top of the order, before the rest of the line up chipped in on a tough batting surface.

In reply, our bowlers got on top early to dispel any Blacks’ hopes, with the fielders backing them up superbly taking 9 catches.

Up against old nemesis Old Ignatians, the LO5s suffered their third loss in four weeks but still sit atop the ladder with 3 games to go. Bowling first, we struggled to make inroads, with recent LO1 player Kieng taking particular toll on the bowlers although Ganu provided some troubles with 3 wickets.

Old Ignatians’ ****** player ripped thru our middle order with 5 wickets, as “wides” top scored to leave plenty of work to be done in the nets over the next few weeks.

In LO6, Old Concordians fought hard but were unable to quite get over the line.

Batting first, Chippa anchored the innings with a composed 25 (42 balls), striking four boundaries. Shagga contributed a patient 19 while Schmidt steadied the innings after we’d lost 3/1, but 94 always felt under par.

Ever the lionheart, Schmidt ripped through the top order to have Kilburn reeling at 3/13, claiming four wickets in total and finishing with outstanding figures of 4/29 from 8 overs, including two maidens. But that was where the good times ended, as Kilburn cruised to a 6 wicket victory to end LO6’s finals aspirations.
