Over the long weekend this year, our community came together for one of the most important events on our calendar — the State Aboriginal Football and Net all Carnival.
For us, this carnival has always been about more than just football and netball.
It’s about coming together as a community — to share stories, celebrate culture, connect with family and kin, and talk openly about the challenges and strengths that shape our communities right across South Australia.
It’s a time for young people to see the strength of their culture in action, for families to reunite, for Elders to pass on knowledge, and for us all to stand together in unity and pride.
Congratulations to this year’s champions:
• Football: Div 1 Mallee Park and Div 2 Port Augusta
• Netball: A grade Kaurna and B grade Narungga
Your efforts on the field and court reflect the strength, resilience, and spirit of our people. Every team, coach, supporter, and volunteer played a part in making this year’s carnival special.
As a community, we hold a shared responsibility to provide a safe, welcoming and family-friendly environment for everyone to enjoy. This means showing appropriate and respectful behaviour to one another, across teams, and across communities. When we lead with respect, kindness, and cultural pride, we create a space where we feel safe, valued, and proud as a community.
This carnival belongs to all of us. It reflects who we are and the legacy we pass on.
We thank everyone who travelled, volunteered, played, supported, and came together with the right spirit. Your efforts make this event a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we stand strong together as one
