Tammy and Jo (from Moving Into Dance in Adelaide's southern suburbs) and I have just returned from a couple of days in Melbourne where we attended Dance For PD and Dance For Health professional development sessions. It was wonderful to be able to meet and chat (and dance!) with chair-based dance teaching colleagues from interstate and overseas, in person, rather than the usual online environment. Thank you to Erica Rose Jeffrey, Dance for Parkinson's Australia and Dance For PD for making it happen!

In particular, we met Gail Hewton, Julie and Jess and had a taster of their recently launched Sound Moves 55+. This online platform offers seated and standing, live and video package dance classes, and is a great option if location prevents you from attending an in-person class. Or even if you do attend an in person class, but maybe want participate in more classes in a week. Check it out here

Tailored dance for people aged 55+, of any ability in any location. Designed to be safe and engaging to support seniors to age well.

An offering from today's class (where we have been playing within the theme of "Royalty" this term), and a good example of how this model of dance class supports both seated and standing choreography. Performed to "Can't Help Falling In Love" by "The King", the one and only, Elvis Presley.๐Ÿซ…

And I while we have been dancing both seated and standing versions throughout term, I only threw this combined version at them today! So very well done to my dancers for such beautiful ex*****on and with the added pressure of being filmed! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฅน

It's been 10 years of Moving into Dance classes this year......Incredible! It passed us by in April so we took a moment last Friday to mark this special achievement with our amazing groups at Pt Noarlunga Arts Centre.
Jo Scott and I feel so privileged to have been dancing with such beautiful people over the years, always happy to see each other and share their love of movement. Thanks to City of Onkaparinga Council Social Connections for supporting this program to continue and providing the celebration cakes. Also thanks to Juliette Griffin (pictured) for joining us as a facilitator this year. Keep Dancing, Keep Smiling, Keep Thriving ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿง๐ŸŒžโœจ๏ธ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒฟ Tammy Arjona

Now if you are following our page then I'm probably preaching to the converted. But I just wanted to share this book I am currently reading. WOW! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ We all know intuitively that engaging with the arts is good for us, but this book explains how and why that is. Highly recommended read!

If you already practice and/or consume the arts regularly, give yourself a pat on the back. If you are considering starting, let this be the nudge that gets you over the line!

Hello lovely dancers and followers ๐Ÿ‘‹
Dance and theatre artist Lisa Lanzi has a wonderful fundraiser coming up for the remarkable No Strings Theatre of Disability - would love to see you there ๐Ÿ˜

Less than one month to go until Winter Wonderland โ„๏ธโœจ

Our annual heartwarming fundraiser is just around the corner, and we canโ€™t wait to gather for a night filled with cheer, connection and a little mid-year Christmas magic.

We have some fabulous entertainment lined up, including ABC Radio Adelaide host, Jason Chong, as our MC!

Weโ€™re bringing PubSING to Woodville Town Hall - with a bit of a mid-winter Christmassy vibe. If you have only ever been a secret shower-singer or someone who always thought they COULDNโ€™T sing then this is your chance to join in with a room full of strangers who will become firm friends through this shared madcap sing-a-long experience. And for those who prefer to just clap along and let the professionals strut their stuff, weโ€™ve got that covered too, with the amazing Lisa K Lanzi and Catherine Campbell bringing a touch of classy Cabaret to the stage.

Join us on Saturday, 16th May as we celebrate all things Winter and Wonderful, with great company, festive fun and a shared purpose of supporting disabled artists to shine through new professional development and paid performance opportunities, with new artistic outcomes already in development.

Tickets are available now via our website ๐Ÿ”— https://nostrings.org.au/listing/winter-wonderland-2026/

Weโ€™d love to see you there! ๐Ÿ’›
