As women, we often find ourselves caught in the web of societal expectations and the relentless march of time. Each birthday can feel like a reminder of what we are losing rather than a celebration of what we've gained.
This is especially true during the transitional phases of perimenopause and menopause, when our bodies undergo significant changes that can lead to a range of discomforting symptoms. Hot flashes, mood swings, fatigue, and weight fluctuations are just a few challenges that may arise, creating an internal dialogue that can be less than flattering.

But what if we shifted our focus from the challenges to the possibilities? What if we chose to define ourselves not by the number of candles on our cake, but by our mindset and how we choose to navigate this new chapter of life?

Do something today that puts you in a positive mindset.

If you’ve tried calorie restriction restriction in your 40’s and 50’s maybe you’ve noticed:
· You didn’t lose ANY weight at all (so annoying)
¡ You felt exhausted
· When you inevitably gave up and started eating normally – YOU PUT WEIGHT ON
What the actual (is a pretty standard response) – and fair enough!!!
This approach might have worked for you in your 20’s and 30’s (it did for me), but not only doesn’t it work anymore, but it actually makes things worse!
Then what happens?
After we feel miserable for all that restriction and absolutely NO weight loss. We eat more food because who even cares anyway because nothing works, AND we put even more weight back on because we don’t know what to do anymore, and it all seems TOO HARD
¡ Maybe we stop pursuing our healthy habits because none of it matters AND
· We start google searching again how to lose weight in perimenopause/when we’re over 40/menopause
It’s a pretty depressing cycle. I know I’ve been there. So, what can you do?
¡ Keep following me as I have more conversations about all of the elements involved in healthy metabolism, which leads to getting rid of that unwanted weight as a by-product
· Listen to my last 2 podcasts where I deep dive in metabolic flexibility and “3 easy changes you can do today to kickstart your weight loss journey”
Getting educated about what weight loss and sustainable weight management looks like in your 40’s and beyond will help set you up for success, and I am here for that journey.

Time to rock mid-life!👇
At age 42. I was overweight, exhausted, and depressed. I was 18 months post partum and (unbeknown to me) perimenopausal which had made me weight loss resistant (insulin resistant) due to the changes in my hormones and my chronic sleep deprivation due to a sick child. I was stuck in a chronic state of fight or flight, and my changing hormones meant that my usual calorie restriction and overexercise was not moving the scales AT ALL and making me feel worse in every possible way. - If you are past that 40 mark, you may relate?

I have spent the best part of the last decade dedicated to discovering solutions to effective and natural weight management via nutrition and exercise. Now, at age 51, I am convinced of these 4 learnings.

1 - There is no one-size fits all diet or exercise regime, especially for women over 40.

2 - Your’re belief, thoughts, and decisions are at least 50% of the problem (and solution).

3 - You’re body’s weight, functions, and health will take care of itself if you feed it and nurture it like it was your most essential asset (BTW - it is!)

4 - Your journey to sustainable weight loss is so much faster with the right accountability, support, and coaching.

In December 2022, I launched my 12 Weeks to WOW program, which is totally based around those key concepts that I learned.
In a nutshell, your metabolic function and hormone health can be restored and optimised, and when that occurs, you're rocking mid-life like you should!

One of my clients, Megan, wanted to start exercising regularly but had an all or nothing approach (like lot’s of women of 40). If she didn’t have time to do an hour, she did nothing-this meant that most of the time she was doing nothing. I had to challenge her mindset and tell her that 5 minutes 4 times per week was a fantastic start
and beneficial. It also helps to establish the habit. Once the habit is established, you can start to slowly and gently move the needle toward the outcome you want.
