NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The 2026 Annual General Meeting for the South Australian Athletic League will be held at Club Marion on Tuesday July 7th at 7pm.

COMMITTEE POSITIONS

NOMINATIONS DUE 23RD JUNE 7PM

Are you passionate about Pro Running and want to contribute? We encourage you to consider nominating for the Management Committee.

We ask you to forward you nomination with a short description as to why you wish to be elected via email to [email protected]

Nominations will be sent out to all members for consideration before the AGM.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP NOMINATIONS
Do you know someone that you think is worthy of a SAAL Life Membership nomination? We would love to hear from you.

Nominations must be received by the SAAL Office [email protected] before 4pm 30th April.

Nominations for Life Membership must be in writing and signed by two (2) current League Members or Life Members.

To be eligible for Life Membership a person must have given outstanding and meritorious service in promoting the interest of the League as follows:

(i) For a minimum of 15 years including not less than 5 years as an official, or holder of an administrative position.

(ii) For a minimum of 10 years as an official or holder of an administrative position.

(iii) For a minimum of 20 years as a Registered Athlete or Coach.

Olufemi Komolafe is Broken Hill's first winner of the Stawell Gift since 1949.

The 21-year-old sprinter, who's now a med student in Adelaide, took out the men's final at the iconic 2026 foot race in Western Victoria over the Easter long weekend.

This year we held the inaugural Under 14 Sprint Series, the Williams Back to School Bolt!

Our under 14 athletes were able to compete in a sprint race at every carnival for series points.

Congratulations and good luck to Alfie who will represent South Australia in the Back to School Bolt series final on Sunday!

This year it was the inaugural running of the Mort Daly Running Foundation Under 18 Series. Designed to reward participation, support of country carnivals and success, it was a great addition to the SAAL.

Countbacks were required in both the girls and boys categories to determine the top 3 who will receive a cash prizes thanks to MDRF. 1st $200, 2nd $150 and 3rd $75.

Congratulations to Anya on her win. Scarlett 2nd and Emma 3rd. Tyler took out the boys, with Lachlan Fanning 2nd and Ethan 3rd thank you all for your extraordinary support and well done on your successes over the season.

The Mort Daly Running Foundation was formed in 1980 with an initial contribution of $115k from Mr Mort Daly.

The Foundation’s sole purpose is to provide prize money to the SAAL to encourage athletes’ participation.

Funds used for under 14, under 18 and novice races through the season as well as the sponsor of the Mort Daly Running Foundation Carnival and now the Under 18 Series.

Contributions to the Foundation are most welcome.

The Over 35 Men competed this year in the Supreme Quilts middle distance series for the Ian Reddaway Cup.

This was a tightly fought battle throughout the season with results hinging on Sunday's race at the Adelaide Hills Picnic Carnival.

With only one point in it, Ben Abriani took home the chocolates with another strong performance. Gianny Scoleri came in second overall after a fantastic season. Third was Jarrad Dartnall, racing well to maintain his place on the series podium.
