With just THREE rounds remaining before finals, the race for September is heating up. Most of our Mighty Woods teams are sitting on top of the ladder or right in the hunt, making this weekend's away clash against Lobethal a must-win as we continue our finals push.

🚨 SENIOR DEBUT – JAKE GASPER 💚❤️

What a way to announce yourself in the green and red!

The Blackwood Football Club was thrilled to welcome Jake Gasper, who made an outstanding Senior debut last weekend for the Mighty Woods with 18 disposals, immediately showing the class, composure and work rate that has made him such a highly regarded footballer.

🏉 Career Highlights
• 33 VFL games with Port Melbourne
• 52 VFL career goals
• Leading goalkicker for the Oakleigh Chargers in the 2018 Talent League
• Recruited to Central District for the 2024 SANFL season
• Kicked 3 goals on SANFL debut for the Bulldogs
• Produced a 5-goal best-on-ground performance against South Adelaide in the SANFL

A special moment before the game saw Jake presented with his Blackwood guernsey by Blackwood Football Club legend, Life Member and all-round great bloke Nick McCarthy.

Nick captained the A Grade in 1994, played a remarkable 228 A Grade games for the Mighty Woods, and proudly represented the Hills Football League in 1991 and 1992. It was a fitting honour to have one of our club greats welcome Jake to the Blackwood Football Club.

Jake brings elite experience, a strong football IQ and plenty of versatility, and his first game in Blackwood colours showed exactly why we're so excited to have him at the club.

Another fantastic weekend for the Mighty Woods, with 5 wins from 7 games and our B Grade bringing the Courier Cup back to Blackwood!

Blackwood 7.10 (52) defeated Onka Bulldogs 2.10 (22)

The Courier Cup is staying at the Woods after a tough, hard-fought win over the Bulldogs! Congratulations to Tom Crosby, who was outstanding and deservedly named Best on Ground.

With just one loss for the season, the boys remain on top of the ladder and continue to build towards finals. We always love bringing the Courier Cup home! 💪🏆

A tough day at the office, but plenty to like from the effort. Congratulations to Eamon Cunningham, named Best on Ground. The team now sits 2nd on the ladder.

🟢 Mini Colts
Blackwood 10.0 (60) defeated Onka Bulldogs 0.0 (0)
A dominant performance to keep the Bulldogs scoreless! Ashby Kleinig was awarded Best on Ground as the boys continue to sit on top of the ladder.

🟢 Junior Colts
Blackwood 9.10 (64) defeated Onka Bulldogs 3.9 (27)
A great four-quarter effort keeps the boys firmly in the finals hunt. Congratulations to Lachlan Harman, named Best on Ground. The team sits 4th on the ladder.

🟢 Senior Colts
Blackwood 18.12 (120) defeated Onka Bulldogs 6.5 (41)
Another huge performance from our Senior Colts as they continue their impressive season. Jackson Muller earned Best on Ground honours in another finals-quality display.

🔴 A Grade
Blackwood 9.10 (64) defeated by Onka Bulldogs 13.8 (86)
While the result wasn't what we were chasing, the fight shown by the boys was outstanding. After trailing by nine goals in the second quarter, they clawed their way back to reduce the margin to just 22 points. It's a performance full of character that we can all be proud of.

Congratulations to Nathan Dunn, who was named Best on Ground, with the A Grade remaining 4th on the ladder.

🟢 C Grade
Blackwood 14.15 (99) defeated Milang 5.3 (33)
Another commanding performance from our Mighty C Grade! Credit to Milang, who gave it a real crack, but the boys proved too strong across four quarters. Just missing the triple figures, Jay Burton was named Best on Ground. No surprises here – the C Grade remain undefeated and comfortably on top of the ladder! 🔥

Reaching 150 games is a testament to James' commitment, loyalty and dedication to the club over many seasons. Through the highs and the challenges, James has continued to pull on the red and green with pride, giving everything for his teammates and our football club.

While the result didn't fall our way on the weekend, it was fitting that James celebrated the occasion by hitting the scoreboard with a goal in his milestone match.

🏉 ROUND 13 | MIGHTY WOODS vs ONKA BULLDOGS 🪓💚❤️

It's the business end of the season, and every game from here is a finals game.

This Saturday, the Mighty Woods are back on home soil as we take on the Onka Bulldogs in a massive Round 13 clash. Every tackle, every contest and every possession counts as all of our teams battle to cement their place heading into the run home.

What an incredible night!

On behalf of the President and Executive Committee, we'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came along and made our Day Drive Party Night such a fantastic success.

A massive thank you to Day Drive for keeping the dance floor pumping all night with an outstanding performance. You had everyone singing, dancing and enjoying themselves from start to finish!

To everyone who attended – thank you for creating such a great atmosphere. It was fantastic to see everyone having fun, catching up with friends and celebrating together. Most importantly, everyone was respectful and well-behaved, making it an enjoyable night for all.

A special thank you also goes to our amazing bar staff, kitchen volunteers and everyone who helped behind the scenes. Events like these simply don't happen without the incredible dedication of our volunteers who generously give up their time to make our club what it is.

Nights like these are about so much more than just having a great time. They help strengthen our club, bring our community together and provide vital support that benefits every player, family and member of the Blackwood Football Club.

A tough day for the boys, but the season is far from over. Josh Eastwood was outstanding and named Best on Ground. Sitting 4th on the ladder, finals are still well within reach—the boys just need to dig deep over the coming weeks.

What a contest! After averaging winning margins of more than 100 points in recent years, this was a genuine arm wrestle. The boys stood tall when it mattered most to retain the Courier Cup. Congratulations to Mitchell Daniell, our Best on Ground, as the Senior Colts continue to sit top of the ladder.

Another impressive display from our Culture Grade! A fantastic team performance with Jay Burton leading the way as Best on Ground. The boys remain top of the ladder.

✅ Mighty Woods 10.9 (69) def. Mt Lofty 7.4 (46)
The winning continues! The B Grade now boasts an outstanding 11 wins and just 1 loss, firmly holding top spot on the ladder. Congratulations to Laikin Whittaker, Best on Ground for the Woods.

✅ Mighty Woods 8.13 (61) def. Mt Lofty 7.15 (57)
What a finish! A nail-biting contest went right down to the final siren, with Mt Lofty missing an after-the-siren shot that would've stolen the game. Thankfully, the footy gods were smiling on the Woods! Harry Scholz was superb and named Best on Ground. The A Grade now sits 4th on the ladder with a 7-5 record, and finals remain firmly in sight. The players and coaching group continue to work incredibly hard, and it's showing every week.

A huge congratulations to all of our Country Championship representatives on taking out the 2026 Country Championships! The Eastern Zone has now claimed the title for the third consecutive year, an incredible achievement.

A special congratulations to Damien Venning and Mike Attiwill, who have once again led the Eastern Zone to success, making it three in a row under their guidance.
