Genoas and Jibs
Genoas are cut with a similar philosophy to mainsails. Panels are rocked around the leach to follow the load paths throughout the sail. The loads in the leach are considerably higher than the luff loads.

We have developed a good understanding of the best shapes to achieve high performance in a wide range of boats and a wide range of sea conditions. This understanding coupled with our accurate and detailed construction methods mean that the shape we design will be the shape you see when it is put up and trimmed in your boat.

Mainsails
Mainsails for racing and performance cruising yachts are cut to a tri-radial design. This generally means there are 3 or 4 seams joining the sections of the sail together. Each of these sections is made from the most appropriate fabric, which is aligned with the expected loads in the sail.

This design allows us to use more than one cloth in the sail construction, which means the cloth is only as heavy as it needs to be in a specific part of the sail.

All patches are radially designed to complement the panel layout and we put significant effort into ensuring the corners are well reinforced and the overall workmanship is such that the sail will give long and satisfactory life.
