BOOM! This goes to one dedicated woman! 👏

Today, Michelle has officially weighed-in @ 10kg down from when we started In FEB

84.4kg > 74.3kg

Michelle has LOST an impressive 10kg.

HOWEVER,

I think, everything she has GAINED shines far brighter .

Throughout this journey Michelle has managed to build some real solid foundations.

- She has become a STRONG woman, Bench pressing & Squatting some serious kgs

- She has created a real solid relationship with the gym (Now stepping into the gym with some boss-ass confidence.)

- She HASN'T Tracked a single calorie and has been able to enjoy take-out and some sweets throughout her weeks.

- She has shifted her mindset and demeanor to represent a strong & happy woman.

Michelle has put in some serious effort, stepping out of her comfort zone and trusting herself to put in the work.

I am truly excited to see what Michelle conquers next!

“Self-sabotage occurs when we destroy ourselves physically, mentally, or emotionally or deliberately hinder our own success and wellbeing by undermining personal goals and values” (Brenner, 2019).
-
This behaviour can be both conscious (aware of) and subconscious (unaware of), depending on your level of awareness.
-
A common example of conscious self-sabotage is when we decide to eat something that will put us over our set calories, when we very well know our weight loss goal requires us to be under a specific amount.
-
Subconscious self-sabotage is when we do something that gets in the way of our personal goals and values and fail to recognise that we did so.
-
The big one for me! And this can be both conscious and subconscious is procrastination… procrastinating from going to the gym, from planning your meals, getting that assignment finished, or handing in that work project.

3 suggestions to battle self-sabotage

1️⃣ Work on your self-awareness.

What does self-sabotage look like for you?

What behaviours can you tie to self-sabotage in the past?

2️⃣ Write it down. Find some patterns, keep a journal the more you know about your day to day habits, the more you’ll be able to help

3️⃣ Create a plan! Zone in on the actions required for your goals and desires and stick to it!

When we were little, we moved and played a lot. 🛝

We ran, wrestled in the grass, climbed trees, and jumped out of swings.

If there was something we felt we could not do, it was because “we were too little.”

When we grew up, we stopped running, playing, climbing, and jumping.

At first the excuse was, “I’m too busy.”

But one day it might turn into, “I’m too tired. I’m too old. I’m too weak. I’m too sick.”

When we’re no longer “too little,” we get too big to remember how to play.

“I’m just not motivated”

“I’m too lazy.”

“I’ll wait until I feel motivated.”

I’ve been there, I get it but this is garbage.

You all are the most motivated, un-lazy people I know.

You work hard at your jobs, you take care of your families, and manage all of the little unseen responsibilities that most people don’t have a clue about.

Motivation and laziness is NOT your problem.

“I wish I had more self control.”

“I lose all self control around X food/situation.”

You don’t lack self control. You manage to not lose your mind at work, love your kids at their worst, and not bury your significant other every time they forget to clean up after themselves. Your self control is fine - it’s just busy and not focused.

So if motivation is unreliable and self control is unfocused - what the heck do you do?

*You build a system and environment that supports your goals. 🔨*

“You don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems.” - James Clear, Atomic Habits.

YOU are not broken.

Your systems and environment are.

You CAN control your system and environment. You can change them - at least somewhat.

If you’re not getting enough sleep then you need to set some boundaries and create a routine that prevents you from falling into bad habits. i.e Put your phone in another room 30-60 mins before you go to sleep so you aren’t scrolling through your social media for hours on end.

If you struggle with constant snacking and blowing out on the weekend then try and avoid putting yourself in an environment that promotes these unsupportive behaviors i.e Parties, lots of drinking, fast food restaurants.

Look for opportunities to improve your systems and environment so relying on your self control is a last resort.

Resistance Training: a system of muscle-strengthening exercises and techniques 💪🏻

It’s not just about throwing heavy weights around, drinking pre-workout, and looking “shredded.”
-
To put it simply, regardless of your age, height, weight, gender, or shoe size, you will benefit from doing some form of resistance training.
-
The extent and style will differ from person to person. The structure of exercise selection & intensity done by your best mate might need to be entirely different for you depending on your current experience, goals, and a couple of other variables.
-
But all in all, moving a bit more and lifting a few heavier objects a couple of times a week can provide significant benefits.
-
Who doesn’t want to feel healthy, fit, strong, empowered, confident, sexy, youthful, etc? 👏

Many people are oblivious to the fact that their efforts are doing diddly squat
-
You could be the hardest worker in the room, but if your effort has no clear direction, then you’ll struggle to achieve your desired outcome.
-
If you want to “change the way your body looks,” “get stronger in the gym,” “earn X amount in your business,” then you must ensure your methods, strategy, habits, and behaviors are aligned with the goal at hand.
-
Constantly check in with yourself and ask if the approach you are taking is the right approach for your expected result.
-
If you are unsure, seek help, educate yourself, spend some time planning things out.
-
Stop pushing water uphill with a rake.
