During the last week of Term 3, we brought our Pétanque School Program to Unley High School, Burnside Primary School, and Flaxmill School. We were blessed with fantastic weather, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
More than 700 students had the opportunity to enjoy the sport of Pétanque. For some, it was their first introduction to the game, while others continued to build on their appreciation of this traditional French sport. Many of the students study French language and culture as part of their curriculum, and Pétanque forms an integral part of their French Week or French Day celebrations. We observed that many students have the skills and potential to become excellent Pétanque players.
We would like to thank all the school staff who organised our visits, the students who participated with such enthusiasm, and our many volunteers who generously gave their time to share their knowledge and skills.
As we begin Term 4, even more schools will be participating in our program. We look forward to these opportunities to engage with the younger generation while sharing a sport that we are passionate about.
