Last night's SA Racing Awards were truly unforgettable!

Broadcasting legend Bruce McAvaney OAM was proudly inducted into the South Australian Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame, with SA Premier Peter Malinauskas in attendance to honour his remarkable contributions to racing. The South Australian Jockey Club took the opportunity to announce that The Goodwood will be named in Bruce’s honour.

Jason Holder was awarded his fourth John Letts Medal, tying him with Jamie Melham as the most successful jockey in the award's history. Lauren Stojakovic's remarkable comeback earned her victory in the inaugural, publicly voted Most Memorable Moment Award 🌟

After their turf track was affected after one of the driest winters since the 1950s, the JRC reseeded the course, and installed a cutting edge irrigation system to ensure the turf's longevity and quality.

After the cancellation of the 2024 annual race meeting, the club bounced back to present a race track in pristine condition. This even, safe, and professionally maintained turf exceeded expectations and delivered an outstanding racing experience.

The club has also worked to enhance its facilities with significant upgrades to the administration and facilities building. These developments, funded entirely by the club, highlight their dedication to reinvesting in infrastructure and securing a prosperous future.

Geoff Redden wins the 2026 Outstanding Achievement By An Individual Award!

Since the early 1990s, Geoff Redden has been a cornerstone of the Mindarie-Halidon Racing Club. Over more than three decades, Geoff's volunteer service has been a testament to his exceptional leadership, resilience, and unwavering dedication to both the club and the broader community.

In June 2026, Geoff played a key role in assisting with the installation of the PVC running rail, which allowed Mindarie-Halidon to successfully host its first official barrier trials. In preparation for the 2025 race meeting, Geoff demonstrated unparalleled dedication when drifting sand covered a significant portion of the racing line. Together with fellow volunteers, he spent countless hours removing the sand and repairing the surface, enabling a successful October event that drew one of the club's largest crowds in recent memory.

Geoff’s leadership is fuelled by a genuine desire to see his community flourish. His commitment, perseverance, and generosity have not only secured the club's ongoing success but have also strengthened the community it serves.
