SNOOKERSA 6-RED 900 – WILD CARD NIGHT

The race to the Finals is entering its final chapter.
Last week was officially Round 12, but with two nights lost during the season, tonight and next Friday become Bonus Rounds – two Wild Card opportunities for players to improve their standing, chase points, and force their way into the Finals.
And if recent weeks are anything to go by, anything can happen.
We've seen an event finish in an incredible dead heat, with two players unable to be separated after nine frames each. We've seen records tumble, including a stunning 74 clearance, the highest break ever recorded in the history of the 6-Red 900.

So what happens tonight?

Will another record fall? Will a new name emerge? Will someone make a late charge towards the Finals? Or will one of the frontrunners stamp their authority on the season?
With only two rounds remaining before Finals, every frame, every point, and every shot matters.
The season has become serious. The pressure is building. The Finals are approaching.

Be part of the action. Be part of the drama. Be there tonight.
Two rounds left. Then Finals. Let the battle begin.

THURSDAY TEAMS LEAGUE FINALS – WEEK 1

The regular season may be over, but if last night's matches were any indication, the finals series is shaping up to be one of the most competitive un recent seasons.
Every team that earned a finals berth arrived determined to keep their season alive, and the standard of snooker reflected exactly that.

The headline result came from Clean Slate, who produced a commanding performance to eliminate Double Trouble 9-6. Peter Weber and Darryl Beaney were simply too strong on the night, each collecting two valuable wins to send Clean Slate charging into the Major Semi Final against ladder leaders Smooth Chalkers.
The other major qualifying final saw defending champions DMW Demons remind everyone why they've been one of the competition's benchmark teams for the past couple of years. Facing a dangerous Pot Blacks outfit, the Demons delivered when it mattered most, securing a 9-6 victory. Adam Edwards and Rex Cole shared the honours with two wins apiece, setting up a blockbuster semi-final showdown against Over the Hill.

In the Plate Finals, the intensity was every bit as fierce.
WHAM! overcame Get Lucky 8-6 in a match that could have gone either way. George Hagidimitriou was outstanding, collecting a crucial 3-0 victory to help guide his team through.
The narrowest margin of the night belonged to The Cue Fathers, who edged out Ball Breakers 7-6. Allan Murphy once again proved the difference, delivering a key 3-0 win as The Cue Fathers kept their season alive.
There was also a touch of misfortune on the evening. Shane Murphy, battling a recurring shoulder injury, was forced to forfeit a frame and the black ball shoot out during his match. It was a cruel moment in such an important contest.

PSL Semi Final

The second Major Semi Final promised plenty, and it delivered.

Coming into the match, Kieran McGuire and Swenson Su were locked at 1-1 head-to-head for the season. Both players had been in strong form and both knew a place in the Grand Final against Frank Zhao was on the line.

Swenson struck first, taking the opening frame and immediately applying the pressure. Kieran responded superbly, digging deep to claim the next three frames and turn the match on its head.
To his credit, Swenson refused to go away, pulling a frame back to close the gap to 3-2 and keep the contest alive. But with the pressure at its highest, Kieran produced when it mattered most, taking the sixth frame to secure a hard-fought 4-2 victory.
There were no big breaks on the scoreboard, but this was quality finals snooker. Tough safety, smart tactical play and plenty of pressure shots made it a battle from start to finish.
The result sends Kieran McGuire into the PSL Grand Final, where the challenge awaiting him is a familiar one.

Frank Zhao.

The man who ended Frank's unbeaten run now gets one more shot at the league leader.

The Hunt for Frank is back on.

Championship Invitational Finals – Week 1

Finals night arrived and delivered exactly what was expected — pressure, drama and quality snooker as players began their quest for Championship Invitational glory.

In the Major Finals, ladder leader Rick Cox continued his outstanding season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Danny Allen. Danny had been one of the competition's form players in recent weeks and was looking to continue his giant-killing run, but Rick once again showed why he finished at the top of the ladder. With his place in the Grand Final on the line, Rick controlled the key moments and became the first player to secure a berth in the Championship decider.

The surprise result of the night came in the Elimination Final, where Flynn Davison produced a superb performance to defeat George Han 4-2. George entered the match as the higher seed and one of the competition favourites, but Flynn rose to the occasion, playing some of his best snooker of the season. The win keeps Flynn's Championship hopes alive and sets up a mouth-watering Major Semi-Final showdown with Danny Allen next week. George's loss sees him drop into the Plate Finals, where he remains a serious threat for silverware.

The Plate Finals also got underway with Andrew Tieu booking his place in the next round courtesy of a solid 3-0 win over Zafar Chowdhury. While the scoreline suggests a comfortable victory, Andrew remained focused throughout and took advantage of his opportunities to advance.
Matt Mielke also progressed, receiving a walkover following Alex Gillespie's late withdrawal. While not the way any player wants to advance, Matt now finds himself just one win away from a place in the Plate Final.

Next week's matches are now locked in:

Major Semi Final Danny Allen vs Flynn Davison

Plate Semi Final A
Allan Murphy vs Andrew Tieu

Plate Semi Final B
George Han vs Matt Mielke

With Rick Cox already waiting in the Grand Final, the race is now on to see who can join him. One thing is certain — the road to the Championship just got a whole lot tougher. :::

Tuesday Team League – Round 2

Round 2 saw the competition heat up as teams begin to find their feet.
Before reviewing the night's action, a big thank you to Warren Reynolds and Peter Woods for stepping in and representing Kaos. Their willingness to help out ensured another smooth and enjoyable league night for everyone involved.

The standout player of Round 2 was undoubtedly Kieshan Fox.

Wildcards Continue Their Charge

The Wildcards maintained their perfect start with an impressive 11-4 victory over the Loose Cannons.
Kieshan's double success laid the platform, while Darren Lennon shared honours with Tom Zervos. The Wildcards then completed a clean sweep of the shootout frames to move clear at the top of the ladder.

Fuzzy Balls Stay Unbeaten

The closest match of the evening saw the Fuzzy Balls edge out Kaos 7-6.

With Peter Woods and Warren Reynolds filling in for Kaos, the contest remained tight all night. Paul Gough's 3-0 victory over Warren Reynolds proved decisive, while Kaos fought back strongly by winning the shootout 3-1. In the end, the Fuzzy Balls held on to make it two wins from two starts.

Pot Blacks Bounce Back

After a difficult opening round, the Pot Blacks responded with a strong 9-5 victory over the Top Enders.
Tom Stergiopoulos and Peter Platanitis both produced excellent 3-0 wins to put their side in command early. Chris Wignall and Tony Christopher battled hard to secure two drawn matches later in the night, but the Pot Blacks had already built a winning advantage.

Kings Men Fire a Warning Shot

The performance of the round belonged to The Kings Men, who handed the previously unbeaten Rough Diamonds a comprehensive 13-2 defeat.
Jason Zaccarini and Martin Rowe were outstanding, winning all four matches between them. Daryl Maslin managed two valuable drawn frames for the Rough Diamonds, but the Kings Men were simply too strong and announced themselves as serious title contenders.

Ladder Watch

The Wildcards now sit alone at the top of the ladder with a perfect record and a healthy frame differential. The Fuzzy Balls remain unbeaten in second place, while the Kings Men's big victory launches them into third.

It's still very early days. With 12 rounds remaining, every team will have plenty of opportunities to climb the ladder, settle their handicaps, and build momentum.

One thing is already clear — the new teams, new players and fresh rivalries have brought a fantastic energy to Tuesday nights at SnookerSA.

Round 2 belongs to the Wildcards and Star of the Round, Kieshan Fox, but the race for the title is only just beginning.

ONE POINT! THE TIGHTEST FINISH YET!

If you thought the tie at the 6 Red 900 a fortnight ago was unbelievable, Sunday's 147 event somehow managed to top it.
After seven rounds of competition, just ONE POINT separated the top three players!

Let that sink in.

George Han claimed victory with a total handicap-adjusted score of 674, but right behind him sat Raj Chawla and Peter Darby on 673. That's right – first, second and third were separated by a single point after hundreds of points had been scored across the afternoon.

George's victory was built on incredible consistency. He didn't have the highest individual score of the day, but he simply kept turning in quality performances round after round, finishing unbeaten with 7 wins from 7 starts.

Raj was once again right in the mix, producing frame scores of 98, 97, 81 and 67, while Peter Darby showed why he is one of the most dangerous competitors consistently only dropping 1 frame for the day.

Further down the ladder, Frankie So continued his impressive form to finish fourth, while Uncle Rick rounded out the top five and added the highest break of the day with a classy 35 break, backed up by another run of 22.

The Sunday 147 format continues to deliver incredible finishes, but this may well be the closest yet.

A tie in the 6 Red 900. A one-point margin covering the top three in the Sunday 147.

You simply couldn't script it.
