ROUND 2 - TEAM OF THE WEEK
You might be wondering about the change in background art for this weeks TOTW. Well all will be explained in due time.
Our story starts at Mofflin reserve against Parafield Gardens (dont worry, we were just as confused as you are). Troy Wilson, a bold and beautiful dad-to-be strolled to the crease with one goal in mind: "I'm making a ton before I become a father" What a story that would be, a tale for the kids and grandkids perhaps? Well he was bowled on 99 by an absolute peach. Agonisingly close to his maiden ton in the CCC shirt. But all was not lost, Troy's brilliant innings laid the foundations for what would become the A grades first win of the season.
The afternoon was far from over with 10 wickets needed to secure victory. Kyle Stephens, ball in hand and perhaps reminiscing on his night at The Exchange the week prior - trundled toward the crease with a point to prove. As he tore through Parafield Gardens' lineup, its speculated that he barked after each wicket fell. Finishing the day with an absolutely devastating 7/33!!
The only standout in a rough loss from the B grade was Shaun Conniff, picking up 3 wickets with the ball.
Tyrone Guest celebrated his 300th game in style, become the first player to win their 300 milestone game (or so were told anyway). The C grade bowled Parafield Gardens out with 4 runs to spare. Best with the bat was Nick Brodley, who also picked up 3 wickets including the match winner. Katie Northcott was up to her old tricks again with 3/35 from her 8 overs.
The D grade fell short but with a couple of highlights. Matt Fox and young gun Logan Wesker both picked up 2 wickets. Logan also top scored woth a slashed 25 in the back end of the innings, he's certainly one to watch this season.
Some junior inclusions from Sam Acharya who top scored in the Under 16s, notching 30 runs which proved crucial as the team successfully defended 81 against Atco, and Ryan Austin who crafted a well worked 22 opening in the 12s White.
The team is rounded out be Adeen Ali who top scored for the Under 12 Navy as well as picking up a wicket.
