The Morphettville Park Cricket Club (MPCC) has come a long way since its humble beginnings at St Marks Church in 1922. For several years now we’ve been fielding 4 senior teams, but due to increased interest from new players or those from other clubs wanting to move to the Roos, we've had to increase our team entries. Our enviable junior program – our players of the future – also continues to grow every season and we love nothing more than welcoming new families to our Club! All in all this results in well over 200 people being involved in the Club, and we're proud to now be one of the biggest clubs in the south/west metro district. So if you want to see why we are fast becoming a "destination club", send us a message or come down to our clubrooms for a chat. Our renovated Sporting Club venue in Denham Avenue, which we also share with the football club, caters for our expanding sporting programs, incorporating modern team facilities and state of the art kitchen facilities (and yes, you can even hire our clubrooms for an event!). O’NEILL’S SPORTSWEAR - WINDOW EXTENDED TO THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 24th (Delivery first week of November)

With Juniors starting training this week, we have made the call to extend this purchase window for another week. This strictly shuts on Thursday, before one last window in October.

Full sizing kits will be available at the end of Junior training, including junior sizing. All players and supporters, juniors and seniors are welcome to come and try gear on to gauge sizing before ordering.

A few things to note:
* The Black Caps are not playing caps - we still have a supply of playing caps from last season that we will sell individually once pulled out of storage. (Anyone that ordered a black cap incorrectly in the first order, we will switch them over)

* Anything printed (shirts and playing pants) has a minimum order - not an issue during the first window, but if anything doesn't hit the minimum, that garment will likely be delayed and filled during the final window in early October - keeping pricing lower for everyone.

* Playing pants come unhemmed - great for growing juniors or guys who like to choose their own leg length.

* Players choose their own number for the back of the shirt (00-99, no 67 or 69). Name can be either first or last name (no nicknames). Number on the front of the shirt can be left blank, this is for senior player numbers for those that have them, we will amend at the end of the order period.

🚨 CAPTAIN ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Due to massive interest and player numbers, the club has made the decision to enter a 6th senior side for the 3rd year in a row! But that left us with one obvious problem…

We need a captain.

So we did what any sensible cricket club would do. We found someone who has already retired four times.

That’s right - after four official retirements, numerous farewell tours, and more comebacks than we can keep track of, Peter Roach is back. AGAIN.

At this point, Roachie has had more retirements than Johnny Farnham β€” although Farnham at least had the decency to make people believe the last one.

Former President.
Former Junior Co-Ordinator.
Former Captain.
Former decent bowler.
Former cricketer.
Former former cricketer.

This man has held almost every position the club has to offer, and has retired from approximately half of them.

Social Event Co-Ordinator. Quiz Night Master. BBQ Tongs Wielder. Current captain. Future retiree. And, famously, 1 of only 3 senior players from the club to be dismissed hit wicket this millennium.

So, despite his repeated and increasingly meaningless declarations that he is β€œdone”, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Roachie back with open arms as he returns to guide F Troop through Season 2026/27.

Will this be his final season? Absolutely. Probably. Almost certainly. Until next season. Welcome back, Roachie. We’ve missed you. ❀️🏏
