🎯 LIGHT RIVER RIMFIRE + CENTREFIRE CHALLENGE (UPDATE)

Join Light River R***e Club on Sunday 1 November for a day on the range. All visitors welcome!

📍 Lower Light R***e Range, 633 Light Beach Road, Lower Light.

🔹 Rimfire Competition — 9:00am sharp | $20 entry
🔹 Centrefire Sight-In — From 9:00am | $50 for unlimited shots at 100m, including two FREE H2 targets per shooter
🔹 Sporter Centrefire Competition — After lunch | $20 entry.

Get your centrefire r***e sighted in during the morning, ready for the afternoon competition. Competitors must supply their own am******on.

🎯 MATCH R***E CHAMPIONSHIP – LOWER LIGHT 🎯

Join us for a weekend of long-range competition, featuring Match R***e and Long Range F-Class (FO & FTR) over 900m, 1000m and 1100m.

📅 6–9 November 2026 |📍 Lower Light R***e Range

🔹 Friday 6 November: Practice from 1pm — $10.
🔹 Saturday 7 November: Championship begins. Arrive at 8:30am for an approximately 9am start.
🔹 Sunday 8 November: Championship continues.
🔹 Monday 9 November: Bisley Match — separate to the championship.

Throwback Thursday | From the Mounds 📖

This month, we’re turning the pages of the South Australian R***e Association’s Official Scoring Book and Programme for 6, 8 and 9 October 1934.

Inside is a glimpse of what competitors could expect — from the matches on the range to the gathering afterwards.

“The Adelaide” match called for ten shots and two sighters at 500 yards, with a 12-minute time limit. Entry and am******on cost 5/6, and the prize list offered 46 prizes totalling £50, plus a trophy for first place.

After the King’s final stage on Tuesday 9 October, members were invited to the Grosvenor on North Terrace for the Annual General Meeting and a “Smoke Social”. The programme promised entertainment, trophy and King’s Badge presentations, and sandwiches, biscuits, cheese, tea or coffee - all covered by a 1/6 ticket.

As the programme put it: “The Council hopes to make this a real R***eman’s night. Keep the date free for it.”

Even the scoring pages tell a story, with space to record shots, elevation, windage, light and weather.

Congratulations to the Australian Target R***e Team on winning the John Fitzgerald Match! 🏆

An outstanding performance across two ten-shot matches at 1,000 yards, dropping just four points to take the win.

🏅 Celebrating decades of SARA membership

Eight long-standing members were recognised with Length of Service awards at SARA’s AGM at Lower Light Range on Saturday 10 October.

Board Chair Cameron Whant presented certificates and commemorative membership medals to those in attendance.

It was wonderful to see family members across multiple generations coming together to celebrate these special milestones.
