Congratulations to Gus Welsby who made his A Grade debut for Brighton in our Round 13 win over Flinders Park!

Gus joined his brother Tom at Brighton this year straight out of the Glenelg Under 18s. After some very impressive A Grade trial matches, he unfortunately broke his collarbone in the B Grade in Round 1.

He returned in Round 9 and 7 goals in his last three games saw him rewarded with an A Grade debut on Saturday.

Gus is a fantastic addition to the club and we can’t wait to see him playing in further A Grade games with Tom, who is pictured alongside their father Kym.

JACK MANNING 100 SENIOR GAMES

Manno’s Bomber journey started way back as a 7-year-old in the very early days of our Mini’s program in the SFL. He played well over 150 junior games through to U18s, collecting three premierships along the way in U14, U16 and U18, and he was also the skipper of our U16 Sunday team in 2012.

He made his Senior debut in 2015 and continued playing through to 2018 (with a year off in 2017). Work took him down to Victor Harbor in 2019 and he had three seasons with VHFC before returning to the Bombers in 2022.

A great utility player with a kicking style honed from his Irish heritage, or at least that’s what he tells us! But most importantly, a wonderful servant for the club who now does a lot of work in the background with our social media and comms, which includes publishing our weekly selections and results.

All clubs need the Jack Manning’s of this world and we congratulate him on reaching 100 senior games.
