Round 6 Woody South HOME v's Modbury FC Masters on Saturday 13th June 6.30pm
As it was the 5th game held for the day, our ground was wet and muddy as expected but the good news - no rain! Under lights we had 10 on the bench and plenty of our Senior team spectating.
Scoring was definitely achievable, mostly in the first half but understandably, slowed in second.
2nd quarter heated up with BOG Slatt, Ant, Cambo, DC, Tony, Noddy & Harry all playing well. 4 Debutants = Josh Jefferson, Harry Einarson, Sammy Venning & our A Grade Coach Michael 'Killa' Kilsby were all prominent.
Our miserly defence exhibited full pressure with their golden fists of fury! Our Gate Keepers Joker & Yves teamed up superbly while Ironman ensured that goals were like diamonds for the visiting Hawks! Our midfield was well led by our ‘Red Coat Mafia’ Mezzi & AnTon with Chief Engineer & Future ‘Red Jacket’ Matty Campbell prominent with many of the new battalion in tow!
Slattsy brought his own dry weather footy with great mate & first gamer Sammy V. Tone Loc let rip up in the forward line, as he continues to impress with every outing!
Cal Ferguson kicked a cracking opportunist goal out of the top shelf and enjoyed another brilliant game, moving into the mids for the last! Cameos were the flavour of the night - the return of Reigning ‘Jutta-Red Jacket’ Champ Scotty Fraser, who will be better for the run, particularly with the Mug of the Round in hand! Uncle Ron Jeremy was parading around the forward line.
Coach Killa was flashy and impressed with some of his best work and we wish him and the Woody South Cats A Grade team all the very best for the remainder of the season, as they strive for September Finals Action!
All in all, another outstanding night of Masters footy
Footy for Fun was the obvious Winner
Best Players: All played well!
Goals to Slatts, Fergs, Tony, Galey & Mezzi with
Injuries to Gav & DC
Only the one umpire available and special thanks to Lucas vR stepping up at the last minute to complete the 2 umps. Pistol Pete must be thanked for his marvellous magnitude of match day roles and for putting the male multitasking myth to the ultimate test!
Training 17th June will be at Golf Place, next to AFL Max with a 6pm sharp start. Then ALL back to the club for dinner, drinks and State of Origin. Regret no meat tray this week

Pavlos Opines is back Sunday 31st May @ Woodville South
Ripping tight contest v Athelstone AFL Masters last Sunday at home. Ledger Road oval was in remarkably good condition given the recent rains, credit to the ground staff. Muddy in places given a turf cricket pitch but overall, it came up well. The weather was very kind to us on the day as well.
Fierce at the ball & played in true Masters spirit, the game was hard at it all day unfortunately resulting in excessive post-game laundry! How does one get mud & grass stains out, what laundry liquid would you recommend? Cold or hot wash best?
However we digress, back to the game!
Good transitional play, tackling, kicking & marking by both teams made for an enthralling contest. The result? We're certain that 'Football is the Real Winner'. Taking it one week at a time, when enough cliches are never enough!
Our appreciation and respect to the Raggies, always a pleasure to play against the Blue Army. Good work by the umpires again also.
The game had added significance as two of our own celebrated their "100th games" at home - Huge Congratulations to Gennaro V-Train & Scotty so Good - great work and a huge achievement with updating of our Masters Honour Board to reflect.
Best players: 'All played well' and we are considering Participation Trophies for all on the day.
Goals: Singles to Clarky, Ant, Mezzi, DC & Galey ( used as most are in witness protection)
Thanks to Brad B for the pics, Jutta, Fab & Lucas (S>O>PVR) for water running, bench coordination, book & crowd control (always a necessity home at Woody South)
