Not a bad day for a kick.
Greys vs Hills.
A great win over Southern Jets yesterday.
We were down by 7 points at half time, up by 2 goals at 3/4 time and our unparalleled fitness regime came into play in the last quarter with us running all over the Jets...to be comfortable winners.
This week we had 9 turn up and managed to enlist the help of Ben, who had simply given Bobby a lift to the game but donned the guernsey and and starred in the middle. Thanks also to Goges for heralding the call from last week's post. We borrowed Mayesy, Dimma and Fluff from the Hills team, Chowder from a team down south and Southern Jets gave us a player too, so we managed a 15 v 15 game.
Once again, it would be great to be able to field a team of 18 of our own players...so please consider a game for The Greys.
Next round is a home game v Mid North Sun 28/6. It's the early game so you'll be required to turn up about 11ish.
Feel free to share this with any one you know who might be vaguely interested in a kick.
9 former Blacks footballers heeded the desperate plea to represent 'The World's Greatest Football Club' at Elizabeth yesterday as The Greys took on The Hills in the Masters-over 35s competition.
Thanks to Corey Gray for throwing on the boots for the first time in about 2 decades!
We ended up playing a 13 v 13 game (with a few players on loan from the Gawler Masters team) and won by about 20 goals. It was a brilliant game to be a part of.
However, we can't continue to exist as a team with only 9 players turning up.
Given that we are the World's Greatest Football Club and that we have thousands more players to draw on than the usual club...we would love to be able to consistently field a full team every fortnight.
Please consider the call to have a regular run with The Greys and to save Nige Venning the fortnightly ache of getting together enough to put a team on the park.
Next game v Southern Jets Sun 14/6 @ 2.30 at St Mary's Park, Laura Ave, St Mary's. (Not even much of a drive for most of us!!!)
Feel free to share this with any one you know who might be vaguely interested in a kick.
"I have always depended on the kindness of strangers."
This is one of Blanche DuBois' more famous lines from Tennessee Williams' play A Streetcar Named Desire. This line rings true for the Greys at the moment. Without the kindness of the teams that play before/after us and the teams we play against we would not be able to field a side. The last game against Wests was no different. We did not have near enough players and so depended on three from Portland and three from the Wests team. Turns out we won the game by about 7-8 goals in what seemed to be a great display of football by a team up against it.
This week we are the second game in a triple header vs the Hills team.
Venue: Cnr Main North Road and Midway Road, Elizabeth [Argana Park i think]
Game Start Time: 12.30pm
It'd be good to not have to rely on the kindness of strangers if we can avoid it. So please consider having a run and bring anyone else you think is even only half interested.

Game Two I am told we had a successful first game for the season against Portland. I say told as i do not recall much of the game after i accidentally ran into their ruckman's elbow in what i think was the third quarter. I also want to thank whoever it was that suggested i sit the last quarter out, good inte…

Just making sure Bob Neil No. 3 isn't a laughing stock to the rest of the nation who comes to visit.
Good spotting! Well done to English teacher, Andrew Lines for snapping this photo. We are told his students have inducted into their Hall of Shame for Poor Punctuation, Spelling or Grammar in a Public Place.
"It has proven to be a great way of actively engaging the students with (what they see as) the drudgery of punctuation, spelling and grammar," said Andrew.
Andrew please know we are addressing the absent apostrophe and we look forward to the removal of Adelaide Oval and this image from your Hall of Shame.
