CHRIS “BUDGIE” EASTHAM – 350 GAMES
350 games. And what a game to do it in — a GRAND FINAL.
Tomorrow, Chris “Budgie” Eastham reaches an incredible 350 senior games for the Woody Cats. There really is no clubman quite like him.
On the field, Budgie brings experience and maturity to the group, along with a defensive strength that has been a constant across so many years of footy. He backs his mates, embraces new ideas and is always willing to listen, contribute and do whatever is needed for the team. Off the field, his service to the Woody Cats is almost impossible to match — 350 games only tells part of the story of what he has given this club.
Long-time teammate and friend Ben says it best:
“350 games is an incredible milestone, but for Budgie it represents so much more than just a number.
A truly devoted club man, Budgie has given countless hours both on and off the field and played a huge role in building the culture and standards of the club. He’s always willing to lend a hand, set the standard and have a crack.
His return to footy after quite literally dying on the field is something that shouldn’t be understated. To come back and reach 350 games says plenty about his toughness, determination and love for the game and the club.
And of course, there’s the quick wit, one-liners and constant banter that make him such a great bloke to have around. A fantastic volunteer, a great club man and an even better fella. Congratulations on 350 games, Budgie!”
