Back on the race track on Day 3!! 100m event today, and both Gabe and Keira competing. In the Heats, both ran good races, Gabe was a tad slow out, but recovered well to run a par time on the day. Gabe's getting the experience necessary to make the improvements required over the next 12 months and handling it well, as winner of heat is a mature Olympic medalist, very impressive Gabe!!
Keira did enough in the heat to qualify 7th fastest, and ran through the line well!!
In the final, Keira is recovering well between races, and she was well prepared and clear minded. I was super proud in how she prepares herself before the race, making appropriate adjustments if required. Out of the blocks and 1st 50m-60m, she was explosive!! The little things we've been working came out in the final, sensational!! Also, running through the line, this has improved out of sight, great work in good time!! We're getting the bits going well, with more improvement to come in certain areas, but Keira is getting things spot on, where asked recently.
Gabe and Keira are back to get it done again in the 200m, but so far, they've done themselves proud!!
I'll try and get photos, I was in the zone during the morning, until after final, oops no photos 😊

Day 1 of Australian Track and Field Champs in Brisbane, and Gabe kicked off the meet with an awesome run!! The baby of the Field in the Open level now and handled the situation beautifully. With an Olympian in the lane next to Gabe, Gabe paced himself well and stayed in contact along a huge wind along the back straight. Made his run at the right time and continues to finish off stronger each start.
Finished 4th, in a time 0 30secs off PB, in those conditions, that was a better run than his PB two weeks ago 😀
Exciting to see Gabe growing in his 400m event, massive well done to Gabe!!!
Tomorrow, recovery/prep session in the morning with the guys, before a busy weekend on the track.
Just had time for a photo in Gabe's warm up today 😄

Final day of State Champs and the guys continued their great results!!
Keira ran an awesome 200m and recorded an improved Aust. Record, improving it by 0.30secs!! Super run and did everything right for where we're at with a few weeks to Nationals!! Really good weekend from Keira 😃
Gabe redeemed himself from 400m and showed what he's got, in the 200m. Aggressive, and wanting the result today, achieving a Silver Medal and 0.30secs PB!! Attacked the bend, kicked on the straight and was able to make ground over the last 50m, finishing just behind Nathan, who is a good athlete!! Gabe made a significant improvement against the open sprinters today...Great work Gabe!!
Ian also ran a super 200m heat and final. The final was excellent, put himself in the race at the top of the straight and fought to the line. This is a huge improvement in the last 12 months!! Unfortunately, he finished 4th and missed the Bronze medal by 0.04secs (sprinting can be cruel)...but bring on this race in 12mths, today fired the coach up to start training with Ian for this race next year...from this week!!
Ava made the 200m final, and was competitive. She also added a Pole Vault Gold Medal to her collection this weekend from her work with Kym. Awesome weekend Ava!!!
Will backed up with an improved run in his 800m, with a PB!! as did Shrey, by about 6secs!! Shrey recording PB's in the 1500m, 800m & 400m...this season has been a big step forward for Shrey, as we begin to look at the Cross Country season.
Will also continued to improve his Long Jump with his season PB in Long Jump, and also was complemented on his technique. With this being work in progress, Will is coming along nicely in his LJ!!
WELL DONE to all, with many PB's, medals and an Aust. Record. As we speak about, enjoying the journey, and the rewards will come. The personal rewards were plenty this weekend, and we continue to build on that!!

Back out at Day 2 of State Champs on a 10 hour day, but worth it with some awesome results!!
I'll begin with Ava who's had a great couple of days backing up from last night's 200mH win, with a perfect 400m win!! Measured the race perfectly, as she has done at State Champs before. Awesome to watch, and Gold medal the perfect reward!!
Also, good results for Will breaking 60secs for the first time in his 400m, along with solid runs from Keira's gold medal run and Gabe in their 100m finals, Gabe getting a feel of Open age competition now, next level stuff now. Ian also ran an awesome 100m final, only 0.20secs from winner in u20's final.
Shrey also improving his long distance running, with a 1500m PB, but also the improvement he has made since the start of the season has been huge, and closing in on the regular placegetters in his age group!!!
All up, mostly good day out from the group.

Yesterday was a super result for Gabe in the Bay Sheffield Final, with a 3rd place and some decent prize money!!! He had tough handicap and picked them up late and got into the placings. He's done well over the past couple of months with 2 x National Gold Medals, and this placing, great way to finish off 2022.
Now we get be back into training and get ready for State Champs and Nationals in March and April 2023!!! Proud of your work Gabe 😃

Yesterday the SAAL included the Para 120m event to their Bay Sheffield prelude meet, down at Colley Reserve, Glenelg. Keira and Gabe both competed, and seemed to enjoy the event. It helps with good results as well!!
Both Keira and Gabe qualified for the Final, with Keira winning her heat and Gabe flying home for 2nd place!!
In the final, Keira led all the way until last stride on the line where Brayden got her on the line. He has won Olympic gold in the past!! Gabe finished 4th in the final, from the white. Different experience and we need to get used to as much different experiences as possible!!
Gabe's back there next week in the Para Bay Sheffield Final, as we get back to the training track in preparation for the event.
Well done to both Keira and Gabe. Also to all the other competitors, all respectful athletes in their own right.

Finish up with a photo with all the medals!!

Great way to finish off the National All Schools Champs weekend with Gabe and Ian in the 200m finals. Gabe balanced up perfectly around the bend and finished off brilliantly over the final 100m, to win a GOLD medal!! A 0.50secs PB!! Proud of your work this weekend Gabe, you put everything into your running from training perfectly in both Finals!!
Ian also made 200m final and got 0.30secs PB!! in his Heat. In the final, finished in 6th position in 22.57secs...with aggravated inflammed tendon. So, whilst I supported not running, he pushed through amazingly well and has continued to go to another level in his sprinting!!
They have all gone beyond their mid-season goals, we'll celebrate tonight and then back into training this week in preparation for Australian Track and Field Champs at Brisbane in March - April 2023!!

The awesome results continue, now in the 200m. Keira ran an Australian Record!! In a time of 30.44secs!! A 0.87secs PB!! at 89%!!
Ran the race perfectly to plan, great achievement and worth all the hard work 😃
09/12/2022
Keira was super out the Blocks and held her speed through the line to improve her (national record) PB by 0.46secs!! Quickest T37 time of the day (enough to win a gold medal in the u20!!) In her race with all those achievements, it was a Silver Medal (90%) as the winner, a T20, is also a super runner and recorded a percentage of 91%
But from my point of view, quickest T37, and how comfortable the margin is, that is a gold medal performance for our grand goals!!
Great work Keira...and Gabe!! and we'll back up again tomorrow in the 200m Finals!!
