Festival State Cup – Whyalla 🏁

We travelled to Whyalla for Round 2 of the Festival State Cup Series.

Strong start to the weekend with two practice sessions, finishing P2 in both and just under a tenth off P1. Felt competitive early, but heading into qualifying the kart wasn’t quite where we needed it. Ended up P4, only 0.145 off pole.

Heat 1 was a bit of a struggle with pace, bringing it home in P4. Made some improvements for Heat 2 under the lights and managed to move forward, finishing P3.

Finals day was consistent. Started with another solid P3 in the first heat, then backed it up with another P3 in the last heat heading into the final.

The final went smoothly, kept it clean, and brought it home in P3 to finish the weekend on the podium.

Not perfect, but solid points and good consistency across the weekend. Plenty to take away and build on for the next one 👊

🟦 Victorian State Titles 🟦

We took the trip to Albury to compete in the Victorian State Titles, competing in the ka3 senior light class stacked with a 40 kart field.

Day 1
The first day was filled with 4 practices to learn the track and try find some pace. The day ended with a p5 in practice 4 which gave me a lot of confidence.

Day 2
The day started with quali, I was feeling quite good as i had a p5 the previous day. I ended up 19th, 4 tenths off pole. Got held up during my last lap which cost me my best lap during the session.

The day followed with 2 heats. Heat 1 did not go to plan due to an incident during the race. I ended up 37th. Heat 2 was heaps better crawling through the field from 19th to finish 9th.

Day 3
Today was finals day, but before the final we had heat 3. Our starting position was compromised due to heat 1, we were starting out of p22. Ended up finishing 17th hoping for a good spot for the final.

Finally it was the final, we were disappointed due to us starting p20 which did not give us a high chance of competing up the front. We started off well getting up to p15 until we reached the end of the back straight, I was punted off sending me very quickly into the gravel. Luckily the gravel pit was quite filled due to the very big back straight, which stopped me from hitting the barriers.

An unfortunate way to end the weekend as I was fast in the final. Onto our next race meeting at Whyalla for the Festival state cup series.

Last weekend I raced in the Bolivar Club Championship round 2.

Practice - P3/6
Heat 1 - P1/6
Heat 2 - P4/6
Heat 3 - P2/6
Final - P2/6

Sadly had some confusion at the end of heat 2 which cost me the win of the heat race and the event, well done to my teammate for taking out the win 👊 MB Racing #88

*South Australian State Championship Recap*

We came into the weekend feeling pretty confident to mix it up with Australia's best as we fought to take the blue plate 🟦

Over 3 days of practice & racing, we saw mixed weather conditions including pouring rain and stifling heat!

Friday consisted of 4 practice sessions,

Practice one - P1
Practice two - P6 (Red flagged after only 4 laps)
Practice three - P4
Practice four - P6

We were pretty confident we had the right setup ready for Qualifying by the end of Friday.

Saturday consisted of Qualifying + Heat 1 + Heat 2

Qualifying - P3 - I was 0.178 off Pole, but unfortunately got held up on a flying lap but nonetheless we were pretty happy to start off P3 for Heat 1 & 2.

By the time our racing heats started the wet weather had started to set in!

Heat one - P1 but relegated to P2 after a penalty

Heat two - Got into P1 within the first couple of corners on lap 2 unfortunately the kart behind me made contact which sent me flying off track. I managed to re-join the race in P17 we eventually crossed the finish line in P11 but relegated to P13 after a penalty

Sunday - Heat 3 + Final
The warmer weather was on today, with a damp track to start with sure made it an exciting race.

Heat three - P5 - Starting out of P6 due to our previous results, I lost a position in the first lap. I managed to work my way upto 3rd but on the final corner I didn't defend enough as my speed was compromised due to a earlier overtake and two karts had passed me.

Final - The one we had been waiting for! The nerves had set in. But I was confident we would give it my best shot. Lights were out and we were racing, with some help from behind I was pushed off track at turn 1! Not the start we wanted.... this put us back into 18th, I put my head down and started picking off as many as could, overtake after overtake I crossed the finish line in 8th position. A disappointing end to our weekend unfortunately.

The time has come, it's a big 3 days ahead for the SA Kart Championship!

With a huge field of over 30 drivers in my class from all over Australia, I'm looking forward to giving my all at these State Titles, and pushing myself as hard as I can.

Festival State Cup 🏆
Round 5 - The Go Kart Club of SA

Today we raced the last round of the Festival State Cup @ Monarto.

The day consisted of one Qualifying session, 3 Heats & a Final.

Qualifying - 2nd (only 0.017 off pole)

Heat 1 - Started P2 ⏭️ P2
Got caught up at turn one, dropped back to 5th and worked my way back to cross the line in second position.

Heat 2 - Started P2 ⏭️ P2 🟣 fastest lap
0.113 seconds separating 1st & 2nd when crossing the finish line.

Heat 3 - Started P2 ⏭️ P2 🟣 fastest lap
0.036 seconds separating 1st & 2nd when crossing the finish line

Final - Started P2 ⏭️ P2
Took the lead early on but Dom was just too fast today.

Was awesome battling with Dom today swapping positions. Congratulations on taking out the win mate.

Round 5 Southern Go-Kart Club Championship Recap 🏁

It was an awesome day out at Bolivar for the final round of the club championship!

The day consisted of one practice session, 3 Heats & a Final. Heats 1 & 2 were random draw for grid positions.
