An old OzVPM post is seeing the light of day again. Would love to hear your thoughts.
New content on our blog - a guest article from Andy Fryar exploring questions every Volunteer Manager should ask when being interviewed for a new job.
"You want to know that volunteers are not some sort of 'add on' - but a properly planned human resource within the organisation."

Congratulations to Scott Miller on his new appointment to Volunteering Victoria. I’ve had the privilege of getting to know Scott well over the last 3 years and look forward to seeing his contributions to the Aussie VOL sector.
His departure will certainly leave a big hole for Volunteering NZ.

ROB JACKSON WORKSHOP - ADELAIDE
Reminder this workshop will be running on the 13th October. Still time for people to book so if you have not booked in yet. Please feel to pass onto your networks, most appreciated.
Rob Jackson, a UK based professional, is one of the leading authorities on volunteering in the world. He is undertaking a training tour of Australia and New Zealand and AAMoV and Southern Volunteering have booked him for the only session available in South Australia on Friday 13th October 9.30am-5pm at Christies Beach Baptist Church.
This is an opportunity not to be missed! Rob has written, spoken and trained on volunteer program management internationally, for over 20 years.
Take a look at what you will learn!
Morning: Understanding and engaging 21st century volunteers
Do you want to know how to engage the baby boomers, Gen X, and Millennials as volunteers? Volunteering today is not the same as it was twenty years ago. We will look at some of the way society is changing and how these changes affect volunteerism. We will discuss what leaders of volunteers can do to update their practices to accommodate these changes, further enhancing their engagement and retention of 21st century volunteers.
Afternoon: Social media and volunteer management
Social media revolution is here; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram the list is endless! How can we use social media to enhance our work with volunteers? How can we keep up with the endless change and, even better, get ahead of the curve? We will provide some answers, looking at what social media is and how it can be used to recruit new volunteers and communicate with our current teams. Whether it’s a mystery to you or you want to share y our experience, this session will challenge, inspire and enthuse you to take action and go social.
Last hour: Ask Rob Anything
OK, maybe not anything but anything related to leading and managing volunteers! Bring your burning questions for Rob and you will engage in a lively debate with each other about the topics covered. It’s a bit different but always fun. What will you ask?
Previous attendees provided feedback from a session two years ago when Rob was in Australia. This is some of the feedback received then;
"I loved getting the world picture regarding volunteering. The session was pitched at the right level with lots of information about tools to support me as a volunteer manager. It affirmed the way I think and approach volunteer management. I loved the open discussion at the tables - I could go on!"
"I liked the structure of the day, with all the input in the morning and applying that thinking to the Social Media session in the afternoon. The information was easily digestible and delivered at the right pace for me. It was the right mix of humour and light bulb moments and data input, so I remained engaged throughout the whole day."
Lunch and morning/afternoon tea included
