Teaching women self defence is watching women come back to life.
Self defence is about so much more than learning how to physically fight. For many of our students, it’s regaining power after they feel it’s been taken.
It’s watching shoulders lift.
Voices get louder.
Confidence return.
Fear become awareness.
And hesitation turn into action.
It’s about knowing your body, trusting your instincts, setting boundaries and discovering that you are far more capable than you may have believed.
There’s something incredibly powerful about watching a woman step onto the mats unsure of herself and leave our space standing a little taller. There is also something incredibly disturbing about how many women we know and love have been at the hands of violence and abuse, it’s too common.
To every woman who has walked through our doors over the last 13 years, challenged herself, found her voice and backed herself: we see you.
This is why we teach.
This is why it matters.
