Celebrating International Old Vine Day in South Australia!
Some of the world’s oldest vines still thrive right here in South Australia — from Langmeil’sFreedom 1843 Shiraz to Cirillo’s 1848 Grenache, Hill of Grace and beyond.
On my tailormade luxury culinary tours, guests do more than taste these legendary wines:
– Private barrel tastings among ancient vines
– Chef’s table lunches overlooking heritage vineyards
– Stays in boutique lodges where every detail whispers luxury
In collaboration with Ultimate Wineries of Australia, we craft journeys rich in history, flavour, and connection.

Just a follow-up from my last one. To celebrate the recent International Grenache Day 2024, we think it will be a shame not mentioning Charles Melton's contribution to this industry. In 1988, Charlie Melton set the stage for a new chapter in Australian wine by experimenting with blends inspired by the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the southern Rhône. In the Barossa Valley, he combined Grenache with Shiraz and Mourvèdre, giving birth to the first reboot of the now-famous GSM blend. We hope everyone has a great International Grenache Day of 2024 and a wonderful week.
Ps: For us the simple pairings with Grenache are barbecued chops and sausages, pizza or hamburger since Grenache has juicy red-flavours with modest tannins. Bolder styles like the Charles Melton's Nine Popes cry out for a rare steak or a few years in the cellar.

This is in Chicago , around another iconic place Wrigley field , my new buddies Brandon and boys drove 5 hours from St Louis for baseball game, so I had to support the cardinals , even though they lost! Note the Budweiser singlet as it is made in their town. Also thought I was seeing things as right next to me was a gaggle of Queenslanders under the scoreboard
