π€π€π WHAT A DAY FOR OUR PORT ADELAIDE RUGBY FAMILY! ππ€π€
Saturday at the Elizabeth 7βs Tournament was about so much more than rugby. It was about family, teamwork, commitment, pride and everyone coming together for our club.
A massive THANK YOU to every player, coach, team official, parent, family member and supporter who turned up and represented Port Adelaide. Seeing so many of our Rugby Family together, supporting one another from the sidelines and giving their all on the field made us incredibly proud. π€π€
Our Under 14βs had an absolutely incredible tournament, making it all the way through to the GRAND FINAL against Elizabeth! ππ₯
Unfortunately, the result didnβt go our way in the Grand Final, but that takes absolutely nothing away from what these kids achieved.
The strength, determination and pride our kids showed throughout the entire tournament was absolutely PRICELESS. π₯Ήπ€π€ They kept turning up, backing each other, putting their bodies on the line and playing their hearts out right until the very end.
Hold your heads high, kids β you made a Grand Final and you did Port Adelaide proud! π€π€ππΎ
Our Menβs team were on FIRE! π₯ Those hard hits and tackles definitely had everyone on the sidelines making some noise ππͺπΎ The boys left it all out there and played some great rugby.
And then there were our LADIES! π€π€π
This one was extra special because for the first time in THREE YEARS, Port Adelaide had a Womenβs team back in the Elizabeth 7βs Tournament! ππΎπ₯Ή
What made it even more special was having two of our original ladies from our very first Womenβs team β Mikey & Brenda β back out there pulling on the black and white again. π₯Ήπ€π€
There was something pretty special about seeing two of the women who were there at the beginning taking the field alongside the next group of Port Adelaide women. Thatβs what club history, family and legacy are all about.
To see our women back out there representing Port Adelaide after three years was such a proud moment. The determination, courage, teamwork and support these ladies showed each other was absolutely amazing to watch.
Whether you were making tackles, running the ball, encouraging your teammates or cheering from the sidelines β you girls did Port Adelaide proud. π€π€
Hopefully this is only the beginning of rebuilding our Womenβs team and seeing more women pull on the black and white in the years to come. πͺπΎπ
But as we all know, days like Saturday donβt just happen. There are so many people working behind the scenes, giving their time and doing whatever needs to be done β and those people deserve just as much recognition. ππΎπ€π€
A huge thank you to Inosi for the endless training drills, putting everyone through their paces and coaching our Menβs team. All those training sessions, hard work and preparation definitely showed out there on Saturday. πͺπΎπ
A very special thank you to Simon from Brighton for stepping up and coaching our girls. Thank you for giving your time, sharing your knowledge and backing our women throughout the tournament. We truly appreciate you. π€π€
To Danielle β thank you for keeping everyone going with all the snacks in between games! πππΎ Those snacks definitely kept the troops going throughout a long day!
To our absolute lifesaver Tamara ππΎπ β thank you for making sure the gang was properly strapped, patched up and ready to go before we hit the pitch. We definitely kept you busy, but you looked after everyone and we appreciate you so much! π©Ήπ€π€
A special little shout-out to Ella & Chloe for helping run the water throughout the day. π¦π Thank you girls for making sure our players were looked after and hydrated β every little job matters and you both played your part in looking after our teams. π€π€
A MASSIVE thank you to Phil for bringing out our Pirates marquee! π΄ββ οΈπ€π€
It was honestly pretty special looking around and realising we were the only club there with our own club marquee. Seeing the Pirates represented proudly on the sidelines gave our players, families and supporters a little piece of home base for the day. It might seem like a simple thing, but it really added to that feeling of Port Adelaide turning up together as one club and one family. βοΈπ΄ββ οΈ
And a big thank you to Nicky, who took on the Team Manager role for both our Menβs and Womenβs teams. From organising everyone, keeping things on track and making sure both teams were looked after throughout the day β it was a massive job and very much appreciated. π€π€
And of course, a massive THANK YOU to our Committee for your ongoing support. ππΎπ€π€ Your support behind the scenes, not only for this tournament but throughout the season, helps make days like this possible. It takes a whole club working together, and we appreciate everything you continue to do for our players, teams and Port Adelaide Rugby Family.
And finally, if I have missed anybody, please know it wasnβt intentional. π€π€
To every single person who gave up their time, carried gear, filled water bottles, organised jerseys, helped with the kids, took photos, fed players, strapped bodies, coached, managed, cheered, encouraged or simply asked βWhat needs to be done?β β THANK YOU.
Your time, effort and support did not go unnoticed. ππΎ
Saturday was a reminder that a rugby club is so much more than the people who run onto the field.
Itβs the people standing beside them.
Itβs the people behind them.
Itβs the kids growing up around the club.
Itβs the old faces and the new faces.
Itβs FAMILY. π€π€
Different teams. Different ages. Men, women and juniors β but when we pull on that black and white, WE ARE PORT ADELAIDE.
Couldnβt be prouder of our Rugby Family. π₯Ήπ€π€π
