West Lakes Bowling Club

At our AGM yesterday a number of awards and presentations were made to members of the Club. Progressively over the next few days those members will receive their well deserved recognition on this site once I have done some photo editing and commentary. Stay tuned.

Please join all Club members in congratulating Graham Mullan who today was awarded Life Membership of the West Lakes Bowling Club. Graham is one of the stalwarts of the Club and has played a combination of 948 Sat &Wed games. He has also volunteered in a number of different positions during his time at the Club and continues to do so. He epitomises what a true Club member is all about and fortunately for the Club he still has many good years ahead of him. Well done Graham. Graham is seen here with Club President Lyn Doyle who made the presentation.

Congratulations and thanks to the WLBC team who competed in the finals of the Bowls SA Super Challenge Bronze Division finals yesterday.
In the semi final we defeated Hawthorn 2 rinks to 1.
We then backed up to play Adelaide in the Grand Final but narrowly lost 2 rinks to 1 with one rink decided on the very last end. That concludes a successful end to all formal competions for this season with a win the Best In The West competition and runner up in the Super Challenge Bronze Division. Goes to show that as a Club we are still competing and competitive. Bring on next season.

Winner of the WLBC raffle for a "Thermomix" was Robyn Sparrow. Congratulations Robyn.

Congratulations to the 38 WLBC members who represented the club during the four days of the prestigious Best In The West competition.

Results for day 4 of competition -with each winning rink receiving 4 points.

Grange 6 wins 24 points West Lakes 4 wins 16 points Lockleys 4 wins 16 points Holdfast Bay 2 wins 8 points.

West Lakes has now won the Trophy for the eigth time in the 26 years played.

Big thank you to everyone who came out to watch our Super Challenge team
win their first finals game, your support was very appreciated and congratulations to Brendan West who played in Champions of Champions and won his
first 2 games, but sadly missed out on winning the third one.
Congratulations also to Karen Bishop who also played in Champions of Champions
but unfortunately just lost her first game.

West Lakes BC is very proud of you both.
