due to the hot weather, JUDO TRANING will be cancelled today (27/1/26). Training will resume on Thursday (29/1/26) as normal.

LAST TRAINING NIGHT FOR 2025
The last night of training will be Tuesday 16th December 2025. Training at usual times.

The award and presentation night will occur on Thursday 18th December 2025 from 6pm at the club. There will be NO judo training this night.

Judo training sessions will resume for 2026 on Tuesday 13 January.

We wish a Happy and Safe Xmas to all members of the club and their families and a Happy New Year to all. See you in 2026.

To club members:
Senior training on Thursday night will be cancelled to allow for the packing up of mats and other equipment for transport to the venue Friday morning.

Junior training will still occur at normal time. Packing up will occur immediately following juniors.

It would be appreciated if people still came to assist with loading the mats into the truck etc. We have 2 mat areas to load.

Training will resume as normal on Tuesday 7 October.

2025 - 30 year anniversary of the Adelaide Open Junior Judo Tournament.

Invitation attached. All junior Judoka regardless of affiliation are invited and welcome to attend.

Excellent turnout tonight. 10 Dan Grades on the mat. 21 in total.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
The service to celebrate the life of Mr Ivan Zavetchanos will be held at St Dimitrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1 Gladstone St, MOONEE PONDS on Wednesday 25 June 2025 commencing at 10.30am.
At the conclusion of the service, the cortege will proceed from the Church to the Fawkner Memorial Park Cemetary, 1187 Sydney Rd, FAWKNER, VICTORIA for the burial.
All are welcome to attend.

It was with sadness that we learned of the passing of friend and Sensei - Don Ellis recently in England. Don was an instructor at Judokan Judo Club which was housed in the Sussex Area of England.

In 2012, Don and his wife Jenny, returned to live in England after having lived in Adelaide for some years prior. Whilst in Adelaide, Don (who accepted Australian Citizenship) started a Judo Club (Judokan Judo Club) at Salisbury Plains which he ran with his Son Keith who was also living in Adelaide with his family. Judokan Judo Club was a member of the Kodokan Judo Association SA.

In 2013, Sensei David visited Judokan Judo Club in England and at that time presented Sensei Don with a certificate acknowledging the 2 clubs as sister clubs. Since that time, over a number of years, Don and Jenny came back to Adelaide to visit.

In about 2016 (not exactly sure if date is correct) Don was graded by the British Judo Council to 6th Dan. Since that time, Don was part of the Technical and Development group of the BJC and Technical Adviser for their Sussex Area.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Jenny, Keith and their families. Don was a gentleman who will be sadly missed.

TRAINING CANCELLED THURSDAY 27 FEB:
Please be advised that Judo will be cancelled on Thursday 27 Feb due to coaches having other commitments. Judo as normal Tuesday night 25th Feb and back to normal the following Tuesday.
