One of my favourite lessons from my journey in business so far is how much community matters. Relationships matter. Real connection with other human beings matters.

Last Friday night, Kris and I were lucky enough to be seated with Brooke and her support team from A Doula's Touch, and Laura from Ezara Jewellery and her husband.

We were a table from vastly different industries, operating in different areas across Adelaide, with varied life experiences, but we talked, we got to know each other, we laughed together, we celebrated each other, and we ended up having a great night together.

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to meet so many beautiful people like this, to hear their stories and connect as human beings, and from there, have more people in my network that can solve different challenges for the others in my network.

For me, this is the soul of business. ❤️

For a long time I thought a busy calendar meant I was doing well. Fully booked, no gaps in the diary.

Turns out I'd just built myself a job that defeated the whole idea of being there for my family.

The whole reason I wanted to work for myself was so I could be present. So when my son wanders in and needs me, I can close the laptop and mean it, instead of saying "one sec" for the tenth time.

The work still gets done. It just doesn't get to have all of me anymore.

If you're building something of your own, build it around the moments you'd hate to miss.

But today, I'd love for you to ask yourself, "What would you spend your time doing if what other people thought of you wasn't a factor?"

Huge congratulations to all the finalists and winners last night at the Local Business Awards

While ADELAIDE | Virtual Assistance & Social Media Management didn't come home with a trophy, we were sat at the most amazing table full of exceptional human beings.

Congratulations to EZARA FINE JEWELLERY who took home the win for Best Jewellery Store... and the win for our whole table to celebrate. She makes the most exquisite pieces AND has a 5 month old.

A Doula's Touch | Adelaide and her support crew were so welcoming from the second we sat down. I was so stoked to be sat with someone I could nerd out about birth with. And now I have a great doula contact for the women who still reach out to me for birth support.

And, although he's not on socials, thank you to Kris for accompanying me to his first awards night 😍 it was ao fun to get dressed up together, to have doors opened for me, and to be a little less vertically challenged in heels 🤣
