⚽️ A GREAT WIN FOR OUR COMMUNITY! 💚

Last night, Council supported the proposal for a new all-weather playing surface at Campbelltown Soccer Club — a fantastic outcome for our children, families, players, volunteers and wider community.

With 654 registered players and more than 250 children waiting for the opportunity to play, this investment will help provide greater capacity and more opportunities for our young people.

But this is about much more than a new pitch.

It’s about children playing sport, making friends, building confidence and belonging. It’s about supporting our volunteers and clubs that bring our community together.

Our sporting clubs are an important part of the Campbelltown family — places where friendships are formed and our young people grow into the people and leaders of tomorrow. ❤️

A great result for Campbelltown Soccer Club and, most importantly, a great result for our community. ⚽️💚

⚽️ More than just a game. ❤️

Grassroots sport is such an important part of our community.

It's where kids learn teamwork, resilience and friendship. It's where families come together, volunteers give countless hours, and lifelong memories are made. 🙌

A big shout-out to Campbelltown City Soccer & Social Club, Eastern United FC and all the coaches, volunteers and families who put so much into giving our kids the opportunity to play, compete and simply enjoy being part of a team. 👏⚽️

Strong clubs help build strong communities. 🤝❤️

MAX AMBER SPORTSFIELD | MY POSITION

There has been a lot said about Max Amber over the past week, so I want residents to hear directly from me about why I brought this matter back before Council.

I did so because I believe Councillors should consider all of the evidence before making a decision of this importance. Our very own Climate Solution’s Strategy Committee met and considered the experts advice and have requested Staff to undertake a further research to understand on implications such as:

- human health,
- injury risks,
- disposal,
- embodied carbon

to assist the Committee in evaluating the long-term benefits, risk and sustainability implication of synthetic surface.

That means considering the needs of our community, including Eastern United FC Eastern United FC Academy Campbelltown City Soccer & Social Club, opportunities for women and girls, environmental impacts, financial responsibility, available government funding and the long-term use of an important community asset. ⚽️🌳

There are strongly held views on both sides — and I respect that. Healthy community debate is important.

What I won’t do is participate in personal accusations or political point-scoring. Questions about Council procedure and legal interpretation should be determined through the proper Council process and appropriate legal advice.

For me, this has always been about finding the best long-term outcome for our whole community.

Our sporting clubs, players, volunteers, parents, local residents and ratepayers are not competing communities — they are our community. ❤️

I will continue to listen, consider the evidence and make the decision I believe best serves Campbelltown now and into the future.
