Now that winter is here, with the cold, the rain, and the busy schedules, it’s easy to fall off the wagon.
You start thinking: Who’s really going to notice if I skip? Motivation drops, and the couch starts looking a lot more appealing than the gym.
This is exactly why intrinsic motivation matters.
It’s easy to train when your friends are going, when it feels like a trendy thing to do, or when you want to look a certain way. Those reasons are fine… but they’re external. They fade when the weather turns or life gets heavy.
What separates the people who show up on the rainy, tough, and hard days?
They train because of something deeper: an internal reason.
They do it for themselves.
So ask yourself: What’s your why?
Is it your health? Your mental clarity? Having a real outlet for stress? Or simply a place where you feel like you belong?
Whatever it is, make sure it comes from within. Because when your “why” is internal, no season, no busy week, and no low-motivation day can stop you.
You don’t have to prove anything to anyone.
You train for the version of you that shows up: stronger, calmer, and more resilient.
This winter, let’s protect that internal fire.

A shout out to the Fernando brothers: Tyrese, TAhj and Jax.

All of you know Tyrese, a coach and fighter in our gym, but let’s not forget Tahj and Jax too!

Brotherhood isn’t just built in the gym, it starts at home. These three have grown up supporting each other every step of the way, and it’s been a privilege to watch.

While Muay Thai has helped shape them, a lot of the credit belongs to their mum, Chantelle, who has done an outstanding job raising not just boys, but quality young men.

Respectful, hardworking, humble and loyal.

The Fernando family are a big part of what makes this gym special. ❤️

The Mongkon is Muay Thai’s sacred headband.

Its roots go back to ancient Siam, where warriors tied cloth from loved ones around their heads for protection, courage, and blessings before battle. Over time, it evolved into the handmade Mongkon we see today, often blessed and passed down through gyms.
Today it symbolises respect for your teachers and gym, connection to Muay Thai’s warrior heritage, protection, luck, and humility
The Kru places it on the fighter’s head during the Wai Kru ceremony. It’s treated with deep respect and removed right before the fight begins.
In a brutal sport, the Mongkon keeps Muay Thai grounded in tradition, lineage, and spirituality, one of the things that makes it truly special.
At our gym, we honour this tradition because it reminds us we’re part of something bigger than ourselves.

A new week.
A fresh start.

Leave last week’s excuses, mistakes and missed opportunities behind.

Focus on today.
One session.
One round.
One step forward.

Two great fights from our team last night at Empire Fight Series 👊

Izzy Mia was up first, showing great skill, composure and some strong counters throughout the fight. Both girls gave it everything, and in a razor-close decision it didn’t go our way this time. A fantastic performance from Izzy and a fight that showed some huge improvements in her development.

Next up was Blake Stadler. This guy is exciting to watch. His aggression, determination and engine make him a dangerous opponent for anyone. A strong performance against his toughest opponent to date and another step forward in his journey.

A big thank you to everyone who made the trip up to support the show, and to those who tuned in and sent their support from albany.

Thank you to the Empire Fight Series team Darius Doutch, M A D S ✖️ B L A C K 🖤💛❤️ and Adam Bailey - Pursuit Muay Thai - Entrepreneur for having us and congratulations on putting together another great event. 🙏🔥

Consistency isn't flashy.

It's not the big sessions everyone sees, the perfect workout, or the days when motivation is high.

It's showing up when you're tired. Showing up when life is busy. Showing up when progress feels slow.

That's why we'd like to give a shout-out to Dee.

Week after week, Dee keeps turning up, putting in the work, and staying committed to the process. No shortcuts, no excuse, just steady effort and a willingness to keep improving.

The truth is that most results don't come from one great session. They come from hundreds of ordinary sessions strung together over time. The people who make the biggest changes are often the ones who simply refuse to quit.

Well done, Dee. Your consistency doesn't go unnoticed, and it's a great example for everyone in the gym. 👏🥊

thanks for the shot!

Before the fight begins, there is respect 🙏

The Wai Kru Ram Muay is one of the most sacred traditions in Muay Thai.
Fighters perform a graceful, ritualistic dance in the ring. It’s a moving prayer of gratitude.

Wai = the Thai gesture of respect (palms together)
Khru = teacher / master
Ram Muay = the dance of Muay

It’s a fighter’s way of paying deep respect to their teachers, trainers, family, gym, ancestors, and the art itself. It's a moment of humility before the battle, where a fighter acknowledges that everything they are comes from those who came before them.

In a combat sport that can be raw and brutal, these rituals keep the soul of the art alive. They remind us that Muay Thai is more than just fighting . It's discipline, gratitude, humility, and connection to something bigger than yourself.

This is what sets Muay Thai apart from many other martial arts. While others may focus purely on technique or competition, Muay Thai carries centuries of Thai culture, spirituality, and respect into every session and every fight. It grounds fighters. It builds character. It turns training into something deeper than just getting better at striking.
At our gym, we honour these traditions because they shape who we are, on and off the mats.

Whether you’re a beginner learning your first steps or a seasoned practitioner, the Wai Kru is a beautiful reminder:
Respect first. Always.

tonymuaythaiphotos thanks for the great shot 📸
