๐Ÿ‘‰ 2026 VIODA Winter Lake Coaching
Block 1 REGISTRATION OPENS!

โ„๏ธ When winter hits, we keep sailing! โ›ต๏ธ

The VIODA Winter Lake Coaching Program is open to all registered members and remains one of the highlights of the Optimist calendar in Victoria. Each week, sailors come together at Albert Park lake to sharpen their skills, tackle challenging conditions on the water, and, just as importantly, connect, have fun, and build friendships that last well beyond the season.

Our favourite thing at the lake? Launching without getting our feet wet! And did we also mention that 3 regattas will be held at the lake during winter?

Attention all women Sabre sailors, this is a great opportunity for some skills training.

Come sail, learn, race, and connect ๐ŸŒŠโ›ต

This event is designed for women who want to learn about and build confidence in club racing in a Sabre. Whether youโ€™re brand new to racing or just keen to sharpen your skills, this weekend is all about learning, encouragement, and having fun on the water.

Participants must have access to a Sabre for the event. However, if you are in need of a boat please reach out to the club, and we will see how we can assist you! Training sessions will be tailored to the groupโ€™s goals, focusing on the specific skills and aspects of sailing that participants would like to learn more about or improve on.

Expect a fun, supportive, and safe environment where you can improve your sailing, ask questions, and meet other women who love being on the water. The goal is to empower more women to feel confident joining in on regular club racing and weekend sailing, while also enjoying the social side of the sport.

Cost- $40 for 2 days of sailing fun!

Boat Storage- Available at the club, over Saturday night.

Click here to join. Note, registration closes 8/3/26.

Ladies who tack together, win together. Catch ya on the water,

The BRYC Team ๐Ÿ’™

Last day of the Pacer Nationals at Albert Park Yacht Club (APYC).
The day started with light breezes which postponed racing just long enough for everyone to watch the Roulettes flyover. The organisers mentioned it took a lot of work to have this for the last day ๐Ÿ˜‰.
The breezes lifted enough to get 3 races in to finish the series.
Congratulations to everyone for making it such a successful series. It's great to see people challenged by the conditions and watch close sailing around the course.
The four day event takes a huge amount of work to organise and our entire club came together to help make it happen. Well done and thank you to all who contributed.

Day 3 of the Pacer Nationals and the last day of the Mirror State champs.
The day started with thick smoke from the Otway bushfires and hopes that everyone down there is ok.
As the day progressed, the wind swung more southerly and the sky cleared to an almost perfect sailing day. Warm sun, cool solid breezes that pushed some people to the limit. It's always good to see a few capsizes as you know the sailors are pushing themselves to the limit.
More photo's to come.

Day 2 of the Pacer Nationals and Mirror State champs was a scortcher! Which we could have managed if there was enough wind but alas no, despite some very promising gusts that came through that faded away again. We managed to entertain and keep ourselves cool with frozen super doopers, icy poles and spray bottles.
