At VIODA, we're passionate about creating more opportunities for girls and women to thrive in sailing. From our female coaching team to our vibrant community of young sailors, we're proud to champion female participation both on and off the water!

Each September, VIODA hosts the much-loved Girls Camp alongside the APYC CitySail All Female & Girls Regatta, an inspiring weekend dedicated to building confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love of sailing.

A final block of 4 sessions at the warm and sheltered lake, before our sailors return to the bay!

Whether you are new to sailing in an Optimist or are looking for a spot to get better in shifty winds, minus the cold of the winter bay, the lake is for you!

VIODA brings together the best coaches across the bay during this time of the year, featuring National and State coaches David White, Will Mckenzie, Tyrone Gowans, Jack Lewis, Anna Cripsey, Jack Saul, Grace Cockman, James Jackson and more.

We also welcome our past Optimist champions who return to coach our juniors at the lake - Aidan Simmons, Dmitry Sorokin, Callum Simmons and our SheSails Sail Our Way Female Optimist instructors Ashlea Tan and Holly Cantwell.

The lake brings the best Optimist coaches, instructors and sailors to one place. A final block to learn plenty before returning to the bay. Sign up quickly!

Wintersail Day 3.
Firstly thanks so much to Port Phillip Rotary for backing the regatta and the juniors and youths who enjoyed the benefit of the whole experience. It was amazing to see such improvement and enjoyment of all the sailors. All credit to the coaches and the experience and skill they shared. The sailors were hanging on every word. A few snaps here of the dedicated parents who support their kids and help them be their best selves.
The Wintersail coordinator, Rob Hart, is the Great Oz for bringing the whole weekend together and making it such a success. As well as all the amazing volunteers who bring such joy and passion to make it all happen.
Not forgetting the sailors who show such incredible grit, determination and confidence in themselves to get out there in challenging conditions. Well done and we hope the weekend is only the start of a great and successful second half of the years sailing for you. More pics to come in the next few days.

Day 2 of Wintersail 2026.
Thrills and spills today. Great sailing winds today to get everyone sailing fast and learning lots. Well done to all the sailors for getting out there and challenging yourselves. Yes, there were quite a few capsizes and that's what the weekend is all about, pushing yourselves to be better sailors. The coaching team are doing an inspiring job, creating an amazingly positive environment and passing on such great skills. Well done also to all the parents for their work and support of their sailors.
Get an early night, another big day tomorrow.

Meet our Coaches - Philip Cripsey
Hi! I'm Philip.�I started sailing when I was five years old, here on the lake in my Opti. I've had the privilege of representing Australia internationally many times in the Optimist class. I then moved into a 420, before stepping into the IQ Foil, in which I am now actively campaigning for the Olympics.�I’ve been coaching for 6 years and enjoy showing new sailors how much fun the sport is, and passing on the lessons I've learnt over the years!
