Registrations are now open for the 2026 Softball Victoria Junior Development Program, in partnership with affiliated clubs and associations!

Designed for players aged **7-15 years**, this 6-week program provides the perfect opportunity to develop fundamental softball skills, improve game sense, build confidence and have fun in a supportive environment.

🎉These awards celebrate the outstanding individuals who make Victorian softball such a strong and vibrant community. From volunteers and administrators to coaches, umpires, scorers and statisticians, the awards recognise those whose dedication, leadership and service have made a lasting impact on our sport.

🏆Nine prestigious awards are available, including Softball Victoria Life Membership, Softball Victoria Hall of Fame and the Merle Short Service Award. If you know someone who has made a significant contribution to your club, association or the wider softball community, we encourage you to submit a nomination.

Sandra played a special place in many of our lives and will be missed dearly.

Vale Sandra Evans OAM

Softball Victoria is incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Sandra Evans OAM, a highly respected coach, mentor, administrator and friend of softball whose contribution to our sport spanned more than four decades.

Sandra dedicated her life to the development of softball at local, state, national and international levels, leaving an extraordinary legacy that has influenced generations of athletes, coaches and officials across Australia. Her passion for athlete development, particularly within the men's and boys' pathway, helped shape countless careers and contributed significantly to the success of Victorian and Australian teams.

A Life Member of Sunshine Softball Association, Sandra served the sport in many capacities including player, coach, manager, selector, specialist coach, mentor and presenter. Her coaching achievements included Victorian State Team appointments across multiple age groups and Australian Men's National Team roles, highlighted by a Gold Medal at the 2008 Men's World Championship in Canada and a Bronze Medal at the 2012 Men's World Championship in Argentina.

Sandra's commitment to athlete development was second to none. She travelled thousands of kilometres each year to support emerging athletes through national satellite programs and was widely respected for the time, care and expertise she invested in helping others achieve their potential.

In 2026, Sandra's outstanding service to softball and the broader community was recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), a fitting acknowledgement of a lifetime devoted to helping others. Her contributions were also recognised through the Softball Australia Service Award, the Softball Victoria Merle Short Award and induction into the Brimbank Sports Awards Hall of Fame.

Sandra's impact on softball extends far beyond medals and accolades. She will be remembered for her generosity, dedication, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the people and communities she served.

On behalf of the Victorian softball community, we extend our sincere condolences to Sandra's family, friends, teammates, athletes and all those whose lives she touched.

Rest in peace, Sandra. Your legacy will continue to inspire future generations of softballers. 💙🥎
