AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY JUNIOR BASKETBALL CUP
The first ACJBC was held in 1985 and consisted of 28 teams from New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia.

Each year, upwards of 60 teams and 700 players, coaches and officials take part including teams from Tasmania and New Zealand in the U14, U16, and U18 age groups. The standard of competition continues to improve year after year, but the original development aspect has been maintained and become remarkably successful.

The Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup has produced several top-tier Australian basketball talents including Opals and Boomers legends Lauren Jackson and Patty Mills in its 36-year history, and with more than 600 athletes expected to compete across two basketball stadiums in January, there is a big chance viewers might just discover the next legend-in-waiting.

ACJBC organizer Bert Bargeus said the tournament was originally set-up as a pathway for regional athletes to have the opportunity to compete on a national stage, and had started as a strictly Under-16s event before growing to include three different age groups.
